Our Story

CERO (Cooperative Energy, Recycling, and Organics) is an award-winning, worker-owned commercial composting company based in Boston, Massachusetts.

We provide food waste pickup and diversion services for commercial clients throughout Greater Boston, transporting organic material to local farms where it is recycled into soil products that support the local agricultural economy.

Our mission is simple: keep food waste out of landfills, help our clients reduce waste responsibly, and create living wage jobs in Boston communities.

CERO was built by a passionate group of Black and Brown Boston residents who believed that environmental sustainability and economic justice should go hand in hand. As a worker-owned cooperative, we are building a business where the people doing the work have a meaningful stake in its success.

About CERO

Founded in 2012, CERO is more than a compost hauler. We are committed to providing reliable, high-quality service while creating economic opportunity and strengthening our communities.

We take pride in making commercial composting easier, cleaner, and more accessible for businesses throughout Greater Boston.
