Advanced Ceramics Manufacturing (ACM) was formed by the founders of Advanced Ceramics Research (ACR) Inc. in 2000. In 2001, the San Xavier Development Authority (SXDA), a Native American organization chartered by members of the Tohono O’odham Nation of southern Arizona invested in the company. SXDA owns a 51% majority of ACM. This historic joint venture places the Tohono O’odham Tribe in a unique position to develop and manufacture high-tech products used in commercial, aerospace, and military applications and provide high tech, STEM related jobs for the Tribal members.
ACM conducts basic and applied research that is focused on ceramic technology and polymer based composites. Its goal is to transition new technology from the laboratory into commercial products or processes that improve the capability, efficiency, and affordability of aerospace, defense, and industrial systems. By leveraging its materials background, ACM has developed extensive experience in advanced ceramic processing and formulation of water soluble binder-particulate composites for use in fiber reinforced composite processing. ACM is the leader in water soluble tooling technology and holds multiple patents in this technology space.
