REPORTS TO: Collections Manager
 
SUMMARY/OBJECTIVE:
Responsible for the control of delinquent loan accounts and pending late payment reminders.  Makes follow-up telephone calls on delinquent loan accounts and maintains accurate records on delinquent loan accounts.

Essential Functions:

  • Follow up on delinquent, high-balance, and credit balance accounts by phone and/or letter. 
  • Contact delinquent members by telephone and mail to determine the reasons for delinquency and assist them in developing plans to bring accounts to a current status. 
  • Notify co-signers regarding status of delinquent accounts.  
  • File disability claims and post payments. 
  • Prepare Extension Applications and forms.  
  • Answer phones and assist members.  
  • Complete paperwork on repossessed autos when sold. 
  • Approve transactions on delinquent accounts. 
  • Post collection payments from collection agency and bankruptcy court. 
  • Research and locate delinquent members. 
  • Pull values on automobiles.  
  • Understands and is accountable for executing all job functions in a way that is consistent with all requirements of BSA, OFAC and the USA Patriot Act/Customer Identification Act (CIP). 
  • Process returned mail. 
  • Assist loan department when needed. 
  • Take mail to post office.  
  • Computer Proficiency
  • Run credit on members filing for extension or while assisting loan officers. 
  • Other duties as assigned.  
Education:
·         High School Graduate or Equivalent (GED).
 
Experience, Skills and Other Requirements:
  • Professional, well-developed interpersonal skills necessary for projecting a positive image as representative for the Credit Union. 
  • Work requires some knowledge of Credit Union collection policies and procedures.  Knowledge of all applicable collection laws and regulations preferred.  Good phone skills and negotiating skills required. 
  • Requires judgment to solve day-to-day problems but usually within established guidelines. 
  • Six months of loan servicing or collection experiences required.  
  • Work requires basic knowledge of Internet, Word and Excel. 
  • Intermediate mathematical skills required (concepts and calculations involving decimals, percentages, fractions, etc.)
Position Type/Expected Hours of Work:
This is a full-time position. Days and hours of work are Monday through Thursday 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Friday 8:00 a.m. to 5:30 p.m., and occasional Saturdays from 9:00 a.m. until 1:00 p.m.

WORK ENVIRONMENT
The work environment is a typical administrative cube style seating, with climate control and appropriate lighting. Must be able to work with moderate noise from coworkers sitting in close proximity on the phones.
