Happy Day Catering is seeking applicants who are charismatic, teachable, and professional for the position of Event Coordinator. Event Coordinators are responsible for working as a team with the Catering Sales & Events Director during the event production process to sell, plan, and execute parties and events. The successful candidate will be extremely organized, reliable, personable, flexible in hours, and willing to learn all aspects of event production. Catering and/or event planning experience a plus. 

Duties may include but are not limited to the following: 
  • Answering phones, taking event information, and following up with clients by phone or email; 
  • Meet with potential clients to help create a vision for their event. 
  • Creating and maintaining event folders and other paper materials related to events; 
  • Working with back-of-house staff to ensure all contracted materials are event-ready; 
  • Helping to set up, serve, execute, and/or coordinate staff at events; 
  • Actively seeking sales and networking opportunities to meet business goals;
  • Assisting in any other areas needed to ensure the smooth operation of events. 
This is a full-time position, approximately 40 hours per week though overtime may occasionally be required due to the volume of events during busy seasons. Evening work may be required during the week, and you must be available to work a few Saturdays. This is an hourly wage, plus a share of commission on sales and gratuity at applicable events. Requirements and Qualifications: 
  • Willingness to commit to Happy Day Catering’s high standards of excellence. 
  • Exceptional customer service abilities and enthusiastic, professional demeanor.
  • Problem-solving and critical thinking skills and calmness under pressure.
  • Highly organized and attuned to detail. Able to learn and follow procedures. 
  • 1 to 3 years of customer service experience required. Previous sales experience preferred.   
  • Demonstrable literacy in Microsoft Word, Outlook, and Excel. 
  • Be willing and able to learn complex computer programs. 
  • For driving insurance purposes, applicants must be at least 20 years old. 
  • Access to reliable transportation.
  • Current certification: WA State Food Handler Card and Idaho Food Safety Exam or able to obtain within 14 days of hire
  • Recommended: WA State MAST (Mandatory Alcohol Server Training) permit (can be obtained at one of the listed sites: https://lcb.wa.gov/mastrvp/mast-providers-list )
