Position Summary:
Develop and administer an ARFF training program consistent with FAA 139 certification requirements and the unique needs of Grand Canyon West airport. Oversee all FAA mandated record keeping, assuring that the required records are current and organized to a standard expected by the current FAA 139 inspector. Appoint and manage selected team members to assist in accomplishing training goals on a daily, weekly, monthly and annual basis. Assist the Airport director and assistant manager in developing and implementing programs to utilize ARFF equipment and supplies to their fullest potential. Create and direct intensive maintenance schedules to insure maximum readiness of emergency equipment. Create and implement additional training programs at management's request.

Knowledge and Abilities:
1. Demonstrated background as Certified ARFF firefighter with a working knowledge of FAA 139 and NFPA guidelines.
2. Demonstrated administrative and organizational skills.
3. Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing. Ability to give clear, concise directions or information, be easily understood and record and generate reports accurately.
4. Demonstrated ability to function calmly and stay focused in a crisis or emergency.
5. Ability to operate and direct maintenance of all emergency vehicles and equipment currently in use at GCW Airport
6. Demonstrated ability to comprehend and use ICS guidelines in emergency situations.
7. Ability to follow and teach Hazmat guidelines.
8. Proven ability to provide outstanding customer service.
9. Ability to work in and foster a team environment and maintain positive working relationships.
10. Knowledge of Grand Canyon West locations and operations.

Duties & Responsibilities:
1. Develop and direct a comprehensive ARFF training program taking into consideration the diverse individual firefighting back grounds of       the pool of candidates available.
2. Conduct inter agency and tabletop exercises as required by FAA, management and GCW Airport management
3. Develop and initiate additional training programs in associated fields such as but not limited to ICS and HazMat response guidelines.
4. Maintain all records required to meet FAA 139 requirements.
5. Determine and instruct team members in the best methods for attacking, controlling and extinguishing of fires.
6. Determine and instruct ARFF group in use of appropriate fire suppression techniques and equipment.
7. Oversee maintenance of all the department's vehicles and safety equipment.
8. Attend training classes, maintain proficiency in current certification and keep abreast of new developments in the field.
9. Conduct on the job training for new or less experienced staff, as well as conduct classroom courses.
10. Foster a team environment, multi-task effectively and maintain positive working relationships.
11. Perform other work-related duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications:
1. Supervisory experience.
2. Policy development and office management experience.
3. Experience as an EMT & Firefighter.
4. High School Diploma or GED.
5. Valid Driver’s License with clean driving record.
6. Clean criminal background with no felony convictions.
7. Good oral and verbal communication skills and strong interpersonal skills.

Preferred Qualifications:
1. NREMT and/or Paramedic Certification.
2. Firefighter I & II.
3. ARFF Certification.
4. FEMA NIMS ICS Certifications.
5. Willingness to participate in additional cross-training either on own time or training provided by company (EMT, Rope Rescue, etc.).
6. Preference given to Hualapai Tribal members.
8. This position requires proof of COVID-19 Vaccination.     

Working Conditions:
Physically demanding environment requiring a level of good health and physical fitness. Must be able to lift weight exceeding 50 lbs. May be required to perform duties in extremely hazardous conditions. Must be able to work varying schedules, weekends and holidays. Willingness to work in remote location.
