Job Title:  Insurance Agent (Remote work Flexibility - NC)

Although this position is primarily onsite at one of our Truliant locations, this position has a flexible work arrangement that gives you the opportunity to work remotely occasionally, or according to an established schedule determined my your manager.


Purpose of the Job

The Insurance Agent assists in the acquisition of new accounts and the retention of existing accounts for Truliant Insurance Services.  The position will provide prompt, efficient, high-quality service to insurance accounts in support of the agency’s activities.

Essential Functions and Responsibilities

  1. Provides prompt quotes to existing TFCU members through various line of business referrals.
  2. Responsible for gathering information and risk management recommendations for the renewal of designated accounts sixty days prior to renewal.
  3. Conducts periodic service calls via phone or in person for designated accounts.
  4. Completes binders and/or policy or endorsement requests within three days of date quoted to client.
  5. Maintains timely and thorough member and carrier interactions to minimize the potential for errors & omissions claims.
  6. Reviews renewals to determine if non-standard policies can be rewritten in a standard program.
  7. Prepares rewrite applications for business through companies no longer represented at least 30 days prior to renewal. Secures and submits all required renewal underwriting information.
  8. Receives phone calls requesting quotes, changes to existing coverage and/or new policies. Completes changes/requests within 24 hours of receipt. Determines carrier placement, completes applications or endorsements, and collects premium when applicable.
  9. Reviews existing accounts to determine if additional lines of insurance should be solicited by mail and/or phone prior to renewal.
  10. Receives and reviews all terminations and cancellations to determine appropriate action within 24 hours of receipt.
  11. Follows up on outstanding claims and provide assistance in claims resolution as necessary.
  12. Documents all material conversations with insureds and/or carriers regarding exposures and coverages.
  13. Maintains working knowledge of all rating products and processes.
 

Other Duties and Responsibilities

  1. Assists with other tasks and projects as assigned.
 

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

    • Must have excellent verbal and written presentation skills
    • Must be detail oriented, well organized and have supreme time management skills
    • Must have strong PC skills, with proficiency of MS Outlook, Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and OneNote
    • Must be able to work on multiple projects concurrently in fast paced and complex business environment
    • Must be able to work in a general office environment
    • Must be flexible and able to shift resources and priorities as required
    • Should possess a strong commitment to providing excellent service to Truliant’s members, both internal and external
 

Physical Requirements

  •    Occasional standing, walking, bending, and stooping required
  •    Must be able to sit at a desk for moderate periods of time and use a computer
  •    Must be able to moderately lift or move up to 5 pounds and occasionally lift or move up to 10 pounds
 

Education and Background

  • High School Diploma or equivalent required
  • Minimum 3 years previous insurance industry experience required, or equivalent financial services/credit union experience from which comparable knowledge and abilities have been acquired.
  • NC Property & Casualty insurance license required or must pass exam within six weeks of attending the InsurAcademy pre-licensing program.
