Position: Extended Program Counselor, Part Time Seasonal Position up to 40 hours weekly   

Albany Police Athletic League (PAL0 is seeking enthusiastic, dependable and caring individuals to join our Extended Day Program team!  If you enjoy working with children and want to make a positive impact in your community, we'd love to meet you

Position Summary
·    Extended Day Program Staff provide a safe, engaging, and supportive environment for elementary-aged children during after-school programming.  Staff lead activities, build positive relationships, and ensure children are supervised and actively engaged throughout the program.

Responsibilities
  • Supervise and actively engage groups of children in a safe environment
  • Lead recreational, educational, arts & crafts, STEM, sports and enrichment activities
  • Foster and demonstrate positive behavior through encouragement and relationship building
  • Follow all safety protocols, emergency procedures and program policies
  • Communicate professionally with families, coworkers and supervisors
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and welcoming program space
  • Participate in staff meetings and required trainings
Qualifications:
  • Must be at least 18 years old
  • High school diploma or GED required; college coursework in education, recreation, child development, or a related field is preferred
  • Experience working with children preferred
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills
  • Reliable transportation and dependable attendance
  • Ability to pass required background checks and complete all required tranings
Projected salary range: $16-$17.25 per hour

Schedule
  • Part time
  • After School hours
  • Additional opportunities available during school breaks and summer programs
  • This Program will run most School Days Mon-Friday 2:30 PM - 6:30 PM (depending on actual building dismissal times), during the academic school year.
