We are seeking an agile, passionate, results oriented engineer to work with our current team. As part of the development team, you will be involved in all stages and areas of software development as well as architecture, design, performance, evaluation, code review, and internal tool management. We welcome solo contributors, as well as those interested in growing a team under them in the future.

Responsibilities

Developing products throughout the full lifecycle, turning concepts into production-ready code.
Analyzing existing systems to provide recommendations for improvement.
Monitoring system performance and performing predictive maintenance.
Developing and maintaining documentation.
Developing API/User Guides for customers
Assisting the customer service and accounting team with internal tooling, automation, and permissions systems of the application

Skills and Qualifications

PHP / Laravel / HTML / CSS / JavaScript / Livewire / Tailwind CSS
AWS / EC2 / S3 / CloudFlare
Ubuntu / Nginx / Terraform
MySQL
Self-directed. History of training other engineers. Experience integrating with and designing APIs.
Comfortable with ambiguous requirements. An ability to make decisions when obvious, while notifying others of such decisions, and communicating clearly when tradeoffs are present ahead of time.
Ability to utilize project management software (e.g. Jira Software, Confluence, Slack, etc.)
Minimum 5 years in software development role

We are seeking a candidate who is driven to excel, and feedback will be given early and often. We work standard hours in the central time zone, and candidates are encouraged to do the same. This is a monolithic PHP Laravel application moving towards the TALL stack. During the first 90 days most refactoring will be off limits as you learn the system, and you will need to avoid the temptation to fix things which are out of scope. Over time more and more leeway will be given to perform more complicated refactors, then eventually greenfield development. While the position is remote, we do meet in person periodically to get to know each other.
