In 1923, Victor McCarty and his wife, Marie, moved to Long Beach from Texas and began their jewelry business in Belmont Heights, McCarty’s Jewelry, and established it as one of the most trusted jewelry store in Long Beach and Southern California. In 1952, he bought out Wesley L. MacLaren’s jewelry store at 5202 2nd Street and moved McCarty’s Jewelry there to Belmont Shore. In the following years, McCarty’s Jewelry would relocate down a few blocks to 5011 E. 2nd Street, taking over the former Vick’s Diamond Company store. In 1964, Victor McCarty retired and entrusted the store to Bob and Ann Weeks, who kept the legacy going until 1982, when it was entrusted to Page Henley. In 2021, avid entrepreneur, M.D. Chau, joined Page to ensure McCarty’s Jewelry continue its legacy after Page’s retirement in 2024. Now, as the oldest historic jewelry store in Southern California, McCarty’s Jewelry continues to make the moment happy for our customers, from right here on Belmont Shore in Long Beach!
