Overview:

We are looking for a skilled and dedicated Dental Assistant to join our team. The successful candidate will play a vital role in ensuring the smooth operation of our dental practice by providing support to our dentists and delivering high-quality patient care. As a Dental Assistant, you will be responsible for preparing treatment rooms, assisting during procedures, and ensuring patients feel comfortable and informed.

Responsibilities:

  • Patient Care:

    • Greet and prepare patients for dental procedures.
    • Ensure patients are comfortable and provide support during treatments.
    • Explain dental procedures and post-treatment care to patients.
    • Obtain and update patient dental records.
  • Clinical Support:

    • Assist dentists during a variety of treatment procedures.
    • Hand instruments and materials to dentists and keep patients’ mouths dry using suction or other devices.
    • Prepare and sterilize dental instruments and equipment.
    • Take and develop dental radiographs (X-rays) as needed.
    • Mix dental materials and prepare treatment trays.
  • Laboratory Duties:

    • Pour, trim, and polish dental impressions.
    • Fabricate temporary crowns or bridges.
    • Take impressions for study casts.
    • Perform laboratory procedures under the direction of the dentist.
  • Administrative Tasks:

    • Schedule patient appointments and manage the dental office calendar.
    • Maintain patient records and update treatment notes.
    • Manage inventory and order dental supplies as necessary.
    • Handle billing and payment processes, if required.
  • Compliance and Safety:

    • Follow infection control protocols and maintain a clean and organized treatment area.
    • Adhere to all health and safety regulations and guidelines, including OSHA standards.
    • Properly dispose of biohazard materials and follow waste disposal procedures.
  • Professional Development:

    • Stay updated with the latest developments in dental practices and procedures through continuing education.
    • Participate in training sessions and staff meetings.
Qualifications:

  • Education: High school diploma or equivalent. Completion of an accredited dental assisting program is preferred.
  • Certification: Certification as a Dental Assistant (CDA) or Registered Dental Assistant (RDA) may be required based on state regulations.
  • Experience: Previous experience as a dental assistant is preferred but not mandatory for entry-level positions.
  • Skills:
    • Proficiency in chairside assisting and dental procedures.
    • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
    • Strong organizational and multitasking abilities.
    • Attention to detail and accuracy.
    • Familiarity with dental software and electronic health records (EHR) systems.
Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to perform tasks that involve prolonged standing, bending, and reaching.
  • Manual dexterity and precision to handle dental instruments and equipment.
  • Capacity to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment and manage multiple tasks.
Compensation: $18.00 - $23.00 per hour
