Position Summary: The Business and Commercial Lending Manager oversees all aspects of business and commercial lending products and portfolios at the credit union. This role is responsible for managing day-to-day operations, including processing loan requests, and ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements.
Essential Functions and Responsibilities:
· Manage day to day operations for business lending and commercial lending, providing support to lenders throughout the application process, conducting preliminary spreads analysis, and overseeing submission for underwriting.
· Maintain a strong relationship with our partner Credit Union Service Organization (CUSO) for application submission, underwriting, document preparation, file maintenance, processing, and loan closing.
· Manage relationships with all relevant vendors to support lending operations.
· Collaborate with accounting, risk management, marketing, operations, retail, and senior management to manage business and commercial lending portfolios.
· Assist CLO in reviewing and implementing new business and commercial lending products.
· Participate in the budgeting and forecasting process related to lending activities.
· Conduct monthly competitor analyses and present proposals to the Rate Committee for rate changes, and to the Fee Committee for fee adjustments when applicable.
· Review and make recommendations on loan participations from various vendors/partners.
· Order and review business and personal credit reports, EDRS, flood certifications, UCC lien searches, appraisals/evaluations, and other necessary documentation for loan underwriting.
· Ensure all maturing loans and lines of credit, renewals, and/or modifications are underwritten prior to loan maturity.
· Stay informed about regulations and guidelines from external regulatory and legislative agencies and recommend policy updates as needed.
· Create and maintain all business and commercial lending procedures.
· Generate and analyze daily, weekly, and monthly reports to ensure portfolio management aligns with regulations and policies.
· Responsible for ongoing monitoring of loans including the completion of annual reviews as required by policy and coordinate the scheduling of periodic meetings with the Business Loan Committee to assess the annual reviews.
· Conduct and create educational training sessions on various topics for Board members, supervisory committee, management, and staff as required. Session types include in person, pre-recorded and virtual.
· Collaborate with internal departments, CLO, and vendors to assess and implement technology solutions for managing small business and commercial loans.
· Advocate and demonstrate company brand.
· Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
· 2 years of higher education or higher preferred
· 2+ years business or commercial lending experience required.
· 5+ years financial or banking experience preferred.
· Management/Supervisory experience preferred.
· Must have strong qualitative and quantitative analytical skills with the ability to perform financial spreads.
· Must have an in-depth understanding of basic accounting and business tax returns and financial statements.
· 1+ years’ experience in managing projects or developing products/services, preferably in banking.

Environmental Factors and Physical Requirements:
This position requires the employee to work indoors in a typical office environment. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is required to have ordinary ambulatory skills sufficient to visit other locations, and the ability to stand, walk stoop, kneel, crouch, and manipulate (lift, carry, move) light to medium weights of 1-25 pounds. Requires good hand-eye coordination, arm hand and finger dexterity, including ability to grasp, and visual acuity to use a keyboard, operate equipment and read application information. The employee frequently is required to sit, reach with arms, talk, and hear.
