Full Time • Tampa

The Estimator shall prepare work to be estimated by gathering proposals from sub-contractors and suppliers, do the take-offs from the blueprints, specifications, and related documents; Identify labor, material, and time requirements by studying proposals, blueprints, specifications, and related documents; Compute costs by analyzing labor, material, and time requirements; and Resolve discrepancies by collecting and analyzing information. May be required to manage construction projects.

 

ACCOUNTABILITY: Working under the direct supervision as assigned by the President and/or Construction Project Manager, is responsible for managing assigned tasks and areas. Participate in decisions relating to all accountable areas, efficiency and productivity, quality or workmanship, safety, maintenance as required, processes & systems of the department and assigned activities. Exercise good judgment, be highly dependable, and follow instructions as required. Also, responsible for all the other general work force as related to interaction, application of polices and rules, and assisting employees commensurate with the demands of the position. As an employee shall perform day to day tasks, routines, and assignments in a cooperative manner.

Duties and Responsibilities Include:

• Review and evaluate cost estimates.

• Communicate with owners, trade partners and team members regarding new and current projects.

• Prepare estimates, RFPs, and purchase orders in detail for all customers.

• Ensure timely completion of estimates.

• Understand scope of work to bid.

• Manage bid pricing from all vendors.

• Prepare cost analysis and manage the budget.

• Establish and maintain working relationships with owners, vendors, superintendents, and subcontractors.

• Attend pre-bid meeting(s).

 

Required Skills:

• Experience with construction estimating software, such as Sage, Procore, ProEst, Excel, Causeway, or software that is equivalent.

• On Screen Take-off or willing to take training classes.

• Strong skills with Microsoft Excel program.

• Excellent follow-up and communication skills.

 

Physical Demands: Must be able to stand, sit, feel, walk, talk, hear, see, bend, lift, crouch, crawl, kneel, squat, push, pull, twist, climb.

Working Conditions: Normal office and construction environments with occasional exposure to construction, warehouse and storage, and other off-site visitations. Additional, extended and weekend work may be required.

Travel Requirements: Local and usually no long distance not required for the position but may be required to travel less than 5% of the time.

 

Classification: Full-time, Salaried

The ideal candidate will have experience in the construction industry as well as materials and purchasing experience. This individual will need the ability to work with all persons involved to facilitate communication and problem resolution to meet deadlines to ensure customer satisfaction.
