Job Description:


We are currently in need of an RN - Pulmonary nurse to join our dynamic team of health care professionals in providing the highest level of care or patients suffering from conditions affecting the lungs and respiratory system. As a respiratory nurse, you will work with patients of all ages, suffering from bronchitis, pneumonia, asthma, COPD, emphysema, cystic fibrosis, tuberculosis, and lung cancer.


Proper treatment is vital since medical conditions impacting the trachea, bronchi, lungs, and diaphragm can be fatal. Our ideal RN - Pulmonary nurse candidate promotes pulmonary health for individuals, families, and communities, and cares for persons with pulmonary dysfunction throughout the patient’s life span. 


You will be responsible for helping their patients understand the nature of their condition, what the treatment options are, and what they can expect in the future. On top of that, it is also your responsibility as an RN - Pulmonary to provide counsel to the families of the patients and help them better understand the condition their family member is suffering from.


Responsibilities:


  • Responsible for treating patients with respiratory illnesses in an effort to regain optimal lung functioning.
  • Record the medical histories, monitor breathing, measure lung capacity, and discuss symptoms of the patients. 
  • Administer medications, manage airways, check IVs, and set up ventilators.
  • Teach patients to use nebulizers or inhalers and record the progress of the patients.
  • Educate patients on how to live a healthy life and ensure they adhere to the agreed therapy. 
  • You may sometimes be involved in the development, clinical application, and monitoring of new diagnostic and therapeutic procedures.

Requirements:

  • Minimum of 1 year of recent experience as an RN in a clinical setting.
  • Active RN license within the State of practice.
  • Current certifications (variable depending on the facility).
  • Advance knowledge of respiratory diseases such as asthma, chronic obstructive pulmonary disease, tuberculosis, cystic fibrosis, and respiratory failure.
  • Excellent patient and family relationships and teaching abilities.
  • Team skills to work with other members of the health care team.
  • Ability to deal with issues of grief and loss.
  • Strong assessment skills.
  • Knowledge of oxygen therapies, assisted ventilation, and suctioning.
  • Patience for patient nonadherence to regimen and tobacco abuse.
  • Ability to discuss smoking cessation techniques, ability to administer and teach pharmacological interventions.
  • Exceptional writing and verbal communication skills, as well as interpersonal skills.
  • Must be comfortable working with people of all ages.
Compensation: $29.00 - $40.00 per hour
