Responsibilities:
- Provide comprehensive nursing care to patients in the Med-Surg Orthopedic unit, including those recovering from orthopedic surgeries, injuries, and musculoskeletal conditions.
- Assist with preoperative and postoperative care, including preparing patients for surgery, managing pain, and monitoring for complications such as infections or blood clots.
- Administer medications, including pain management protocols, and perform wound care, dressing changes, and other post-surgical interventions to promote healing and mobility.
- Conduct thorough assessments of patients, documenting vital signs, pain levels, mobility status, and response to treatment, and adjusting care plans as needed.
- Collaborate with orthopedic surgeons, physical therapists, and other healthcare professionals to develop and implement individualized care plans that promote patient recovery and rehabilitation.
- Educate patients and their families about their condition, surgical procedure, rehabilitation exercises, and discharge planning, ensuring they understand follow-up care and mobility restrictions.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Active Registered Nurse (RN) license in the state of employment.
- Bachelor’s degree in Nursing (BSN) preferred; Associate’s degree in Nursing (ADN) required.
- Minimum of 1-2 years of experience in a Med-Surg or Orthopedic setting.
- BLS (Basic Life Support) certification is required; additional certifications such as Orthopedic Nurse Certified (ONC) are preferred.
- Strong knowledge of orthopedic surgical procedures, postoperative care, and pain management strategies.
- Excellent communication, organizational, and critical thinking skills, with a commitment to providing high-quality, patient-centered care.
Compensation: $20.00 - $60.00 per hour
