-Job Summary-
Foundation for Recovery, Nevada’s statewide recovery community organization, is seeking a detailed and outgoing training coordinator to conduct the organization’s trainings, coordinate our alumni and internship program, and partner with community agencies to build a robust offering of educational courses and workshops at our recovery community center. The training coordinator is responsible for managing and conducting Foundation for Recovery’s training programs across the organization. Ensures the integration of the organization’s vision and mission throughout new and ongoing trainings, delivered to the community in-person, online, and in blended formats. Engages training graduates and maintains ongoing communication and volunteer internship opportunities for alumni. Works directly with the Director of Workforce Training to create, plan, and implement ongoing events and activities at Foundation for Recovery’s community center and oversee the annual training calendar and internship program.

Foundation for Recovery operates the only Recovery Community Center in Las Vegas, offering a welcoming and enriching space for families, allies, and people in or seeking recovery from substance use and co-occurring disorders. Our recovery community center is a place for the local recovery community and our partners to gather, share their skills, and support each other. Unlike a treatment center, recovery community centers are non-clinical community spaces that act as a hub for events, support, trainings, workshops, and a safe haven open to the public, powered by its members and the broader local community.

-Job Qualifications-

  • Education: High School Diploma or Equivalent
  • Education: Certified as a Peer Recovery Support Specialist in Nevada preferred or ability to obtain state certification within first 6 months of employment (learn more about certification requirements at https://nevadacertboard.org/prss/)
  • At least 2 years’ experience in delivery of training programs, experience with Peer Recovery Support Specialist.
  • Experience using digital tools, specifically online classrooms and learning management systems, WordPress, and Zoom.
  • At least 1 year experience with event planning
  • Experience recruiting and managing a team of volunteers.
  • Experience working with a Nonprofit or Community Center planning and coordinating events preferred.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills, as well as excellent facilitation skills.
  • Experience working with Google Workspace / G-suite products
  • Experience in working with the recovery community and other underserved or disenfranchised populations preferred

-Essential Functions-

TRAINING

  • Responsible for coordinating all community trainings and online courses for the organization under the direction of the Director of Workforce Training.
  • Facilitates weekly training events
  • Oversees the issuance of training certifications for attendees
  • Works with other program staff and volunteers to provide train the trainer sessions, sharing knowledge and empowering others by equipping them to host or assist with trainings for the organization. 
  • Provides technical expertise for online and in-person trainings and events, including publishing online events to Foundation for Recovery’s website, promotion and marketing online registration pages, organize and manage live-streaming and webinars, online content for self-paced online trainings, maintain online classrooms for hybrid trainings, development of online forms, surveys, and other data collection methods for pre-training and post-training evaluations.
  • Tracks all training activity completion and reports training metrics on a timely basis to the Director of Workforce Training.
  • Reports training outcomes and metrics to department supervisor monthly.
  • Maintains thorough knowledge of current training and adult learning methods.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned by department supervisor.
  • Some of the organization's training courses include the 46-hour Peer Recovery Support Specialist certification training, 18-hour Peer Support Specialist Supervisor training, overdose prevention and various other harm reduction and public health trainings, trainings on community organizing and advocacy, among others.
VOLUNTEER INTERNS AND COMMUNITY ENGAGEMENT

  • Engage the community in volunteerism and service work to build capacity of Foundation for Recovery’s educational and social programs.
  • Build and maintain relationships with alumni of training programs, event attendees, and community partners, engaging alumni in volunteer, mentorship, and internship opportunities.
  • Oversee Peer Support Specialist Internship program including the recruitment of training graduates to serve in the internship program, continued educational opportunities for interns, tracking intern hours, coordinating intern supervision, and assisting interns obtain their state certification as a Peer Recovery Support Specialist.
  • Lead all post-training engagement services for graduates of our training programs; work with both the education and training team and program teams to create a seamless experience for participants as they transition from being a student in our trainings to entering the workforce and obtaining state certification(s)
  • Assist graduates of the Peer Recovery Support Specialist training find internships and prepare for state certification through the Nevada Certification Board
  • Promotes and fosters effective alumni relations through continuing written communication and personal contact with constituent groups.
  • Provides alumni with personalized guidance, pertinent career and continuing education information, and reminders about alumni events and workshops
  • Develops alumni engagements workshops based on educational trends, individual graduate needs, and recommendations pulled from participant surveys in order to best meet the needs of our alumni
  • Develops, coordinates, and conducts targeted outreach to training graduates
  • Develops and facilitates educational and employment workshops that would be of interest to training graduates
  • Track and report on professional outcomes and feedback from training graduates
  • Leads internship program, enrolling partner agencies as internship sites for training graduates
  • Use social media (Instagram, Facebook, Twitter, etc.) to keep alumni aware of Foundation for Recovery happenings.
  • Maintain and organize contact information for graduates.
  • Organizes and coordinates alumni functions such as: alumni newsletter, graduate reunions, state exam study groups, skill practice sessions, group advising and peer learning sessions, networking meetups, and other special events and services.
  • Prepare reports for Director, donors, and grantors.
  • Evaluates and monitors effectiveness of training and internship programs/services and identifies problems, recommends improvements, and institutes changes.
  • Assists Director in preparing funding requests, including grant proposals under the general direction of the Director.
  • Assists other team members with the planning and execution of community events as needed.
-Work Environment-
Our employees work in a supportive and collaborative office environment. This position is full-time and based in Las Vegas at Foundation for Recovery’s recovery community center but will require frequent travel within the community and occasional statewide travel. Foundation for Recovery will provide all of the tools necessary to perform the duties of the position. This may include the use of a computer and phone.

-Physical Demands-
Must be able to perform extensive standing, driving, walking; to lift up to 50lbs. regularly; Must be able to bend, stoop, and climb to reach materials. In addition to sedentary work. Exerting up to 10 pounds of force occasionally and/or negligible amount of force frequently or constantly to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects. Repetitive motion. Substantial movements (motions) of the wrists, hands, and/or fingers. The worker is required to have close visual acuity to perform an activity such as: preparing and analyzing data and figures; transcribing; viewing a computer terminal; extensive reading.

  • Salary Range: $21 - $25 per hour
