Ned’s Club Assistant Controller is crucial to the success of The Ned’s newest concept, coming to Washington, DC in 2024.

The Assistant Controller will create a culture of investment and ownership while supporting our teams financials goals. You will play a key role in supporting the Ned's Club financial success and principles.

Seven years after launching The Ned London in 2017, we are proud to be opening a Ned’s Club in the US capital, our fourth and newest location.

The Property…

Ned’s Club Washington DC is a members’ club set over three floors of a neoclassical style building situated within President’s Park at 734 15th Street NW.

The Riggs Building sits opposite the US Treasury and was constructed in 1930. The 12-storey building is located around the corner from the White House and sits above the Milken Center for Advancing the American Dream, formerly the historic Riggs Bank Corcoran branch.

The Club has a Rooftop Terrace and Loft Restaurant with views overlooking the White House, US Treasury and Washington Monument, plus a Founder’s Dining Room, The Library, Drawing Room, Gallery and Conservatory. On level nine, there is a self-contained floor of private event spaces.

The Role…

We are looking for an Assistant Controller to support the property on-site, who will report directly to the Regional Director of Finance. This is a dynamic business, and we are looking for the right individual to be autonomous and to be able to pick up multiple tasks and projects. 
Our culture is fast paced but supportive, so you must be able to work in synergy with your peers and the different departments around you. Being able to exhibit the highest level of accounting support to all guests, vendors and other departments is a must. 

Main Duties…

● Responsible for monthly and year-end financial closing in collaboration with the Regional Director of Finance. 
● Prepare monthly balance sheet reconciliations and resolutions in collaboration with the Regional Director of Finance.
● Manage the Finance department, including training and development. 
● Champion accounting policies and procedures by partnering with department heads and influencing consistency.
● Collaborate with various departments and team members to assist in completing projects as directed by the Regional Director of Finance and/or General Manager.  
● Prepare daily bank reconciliations.  
● Review monthly inventories for accuracy and ensure proper inventory controls are maintained. 
● Review and approve weekly payroll and ensure it is reconciled to the GL. 
● Responsible for approving purchase orders and invoices.  
● Responsible for filing all state and city tax. 
● Assist Regional Director of Finance with monthly forecasting and the annual budget. 
● Assist Regional Director of Finance with managing the cash flow. 
● Review Purchase Orders for accuracy and ensure all departments adhere to their checkbooks. 
● Partner with department heads to prepare monthly financial accruals and reclassifications. 
● Ensure all vendors are fulfilling the insurance requirements set forth by Company policies.
● Record intercompany transactions between various locations and between the US and UK.
● Support all external and internal financial audits. 
● Ensure integrity, accuracy and efficiency of the accounting systems and procedures. 
● Work closely with the purchasing department to ensure all costs are properly accounted for in the proper period.
● Assist with the preparation of various ad-hoc analysis as needed by the business.

What you bring to the role
● A minimum of 3+ years of employment in F&B or related hospitality accounting management.   
● Bachelor’s degree in accounting or finance preferred. Will consider a combination of education and relevant experience. 
● Knowledge of bank reconciliations, balance sheet reconciliations, preparation of journal entries, and closing the month required. 
● Proficient in using accounting software and MS Excel. 
● Proven success of “champion of the culture,” facilitating excellent communication and engagement. Positive attitude and ability to work cohesively as part of a team. 
● Team focused and flexible to accommodate business demands. 
● Effective verbal and written communication skills. Ability to adapt communication style to suit different audiences. 
● Maintain a thorough understanding of GAAP and USALI and apply them. 
● Able to effectively manage different stakeholders and tasks.

Compensation: $95,000.00 - $100,000.00 per year
