Role:

This professional is responsible for the implementation of school-wide student, parent, and teacher events.  The primary responsibility of this position is to bring life to our community as it relates to weekly events that are a part of our curriculum as well as current events.   The ideal candidate is bright, energetic and motivated to maintain a positive atmosphere by implementing events and experiences to our community that are in line with our mission. This individual will report directly to the Assistant Head of School.    

Responsibilities: 

  • Develops, implements and manages all student life, family and community pro-social events 
  • Implement School Life calendar 
  • Work with Assistant Head of School, Educational Director, and Clinical Director to add programming that will positively impact our community 
  • Create visual and marketing materials for school events, activities and programs 
  • Work with Community Relations Coordinator or marketing department to ensure all visual materials are consistent with our brand in messaging 
  • Work with Community Relations Coordinator to document all events and promote to our community via all social media outlets 
  • Manages budget to use for events and keeps an appropriate record of expenditures which are reported to Director of Finance 
  • Works with HR department to implement any staff/faculty events 
  • Be on site five days a week unless there is an external event 
  • Support with school operations (e.g., Greeter, Dismissal, Lunch support) 
  • Develop and execute extracurricular program and seasonal residencies 
  • Provide career guidance for students and initiate internships 
  • Lead special student groups (e.g., mentorship) 
  • Organize and lead field trips 
  • Coordinate after school sports teams 

Qualifications: 
  • Master’s Degree preferred in Communications, Education or related field 
  • Interest in working within the field of special needs and mental health 
  • Exceptional organizational skills 
  • Excellent social skills and a knack for positively engaging our community 
  • Excellent writing skills 
  • Strong graphic design skills 
  • Experience with K-12 students

Located in the heart of Lincoln Center-NYC, Academics West is a hight support college preparatory school that services up to 80 students from 1st grade through 12th grade. Our small student to teacher ratio (5:1:1) allows us to work more intensively with students, achieving good outcomes. Clinically Informed Academics (CIA) is an approach infused throughout the curriculum that considers the whole student to formulate effective individualized learning strategies. This approach combines clinical knowledge with academic interventions to help students improve beyond what traditional methods can achieve. The program is both social-emotional and academic, providing intense support and strategies for educational success. 

Work Hours
  • Monday through Friday 8 AM-4:00 PM (this can change based on various events throughout the year) 
 
Compensation: $55,000.00 - $60,000.00 per year
