Financial Management:
- Direct all financial affairs of the corporation using generally accepted accounting principles.
- Plan, develop, organize, implement, evaluate, and direct the financial operations under the direction of the Executive Director.
- Ensure cash flow is appropriate for the organization’s operations.
- Reconcile all accounts to the balance sheet on a monthly basis to ensure financial accuracy and completeness.
- Oversee payroll accounting methods, including special functions required by employee benefit or retirement plans and insurance accounting.

Audit and Compliance:
- Take responsibility for ensuring the timely completion of the audit.
- Prepare audit workpapers and solicit auditors for compliance reviews.
- Ensure compliance with state and federal grant laws and regulations and other relevant regulations.
- Review entries in all ledgers monthly to ensure accuracy.
- Review and develop plans of correction for any accounting deficiencies or findings during monitoring surveys or audit examinations.

Budgeting and Reporting:
- Assist and support program directors in utilizing financial data for planning purposes and building effective budgets.
- Provide monthly financial information to stakeholders, including revenue and expense summary reports, credit card expenditure reports, and annual grant application budgets and amendments.

Team Management:
- Recruit, hire, and train competent accounting/finance personnel, and design department workflows.
- Develop and maintain written job descriptions for accounting/finance personnel in conjunction with program directors.
- Review and evaluate the performance and accuracy of accounting/finance personnel, making necessary adjustments including counseling, discipline, or termination.

Financial Policy and Procedures:
- Establish a Financial Policy Manual to be updated every three years and amended as needed.
- Review current list of contracts and leases executed by the corporation.
- Oversee schedules for fixed asset depreciation and maintain the Indirect Cost Fund.

Collaboration and Communication:
- Maintain a working relationship with all program directors and work with them in developing and using financial data as appropriate for planning purposes.
- Collaborate effectively with team members and stakeholders to support the successful planning, execution, and reporting of grants.
- Attend meetings of the governing board of directors and policy council, as needed.
- Provide an effective interface with advisory boards, neighborhood councils, special committees, and other agencies and non-profits.
- Strong knowledge of generally accepted accounting principles and audit principles and practices.
- Proficiency in data entry, output, system applications, and relevant software applications.
- Excellent budget preparation and financial reporting skills.
- Ability to make independent decisions and take initiative when necessary.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to deal tactfully with personnel, visitors, government agency representatives, and the general public.
- Ability to thrive in a fast-paced work environment, effectively prioritize tasks, and consistently meet deadlines.
- Ability to travel routinely locally for community meetings and periodically overnight for training or industry events.
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or equivalent skills and experience. Master’s degree preferred.
- Minimum of 5-7 years of experience in accounting or financial management roles, preferably within a nonprofit organization.
- CPA certification or equivalent certification.
- Demonstrated experience in budgeting, financial reporting, and compliance with state and federal regulations.
- Experience in managing and developing accounting/finance personnel.
- Working knowledge of OMB Circulars A-87, A-110, A-122 and A-133 is preferred.
