Position:
General Staff Accountant
Reports to: Accounting Manager
Department: Accounting
Purpose: Responsible for day-to-day accounting functions of the Accounting team and for assisting with the accurate and timely execution of closing processes.

Duties and Responsibilities:
·         Maintaining financial reports, records, and general ledger (GL) Accounts.
·         Preparing journal entries, analyses, and account reconciliations and assisting with monthly close processes.
·         Contributing to the development and review of annual operating budgets and performance projections.
·         Maintaining processes and procedures within the department for best practices and making recommendations of improvements.  
·         Performing monthly balance sheet reconciliations.
·         Meeting processing and reporting deadlines.
·         Responding to information requests, reviewing financial statements, and assisting with audits.
·         Ensuring compliance with GAAP (as needed).
·         Assisting the Controller, Accounting Manager, and the Senior Accountant as needed.
·         Ensuring compliance and understanding of all federal, state, and municipal tax codes.
·         Support Accounts Payable team as needed.
·         Reconcile cash bank accounts.
·         Input assets into NetSuite’s fixed asset module. Track re-equips, new construction, and renovations.
·         Support review  of income statement (I/S), balance sheet (B/S), and cash flow (C/F).
·         Prepare, file, and pay monthly and quarterly sales & use tax and prepare related journal entries.
·         Calculate and record point of sale, partnership, and club account revenue streams.
·         Track and record prepaid expenses.
·         Reconcile & record equipment loans.
·         Maintain all American Express and merchant accounts.
·         Review pre-opening expenses.
·         Oversee Insurance Partnership programs.
·         Conduct variance analysis.
·         Ad hoc analyses, reporting, and projects as needed.

Qualifications:
·         Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in Accounting required. Equivalent related work experience or combination of experience and education may be considered in lieu of Bachelor’s degree.
·         0-2 years of General Accounting experience preferred.
·         Excellent oral and written communication skills, with the ability to convey information to internal and external customers in a clear, focused and concise manner.
·         Working knowledge of GAAP.
·         Strong mathematical aptitude with experience and proficiency in working with numbers.
·         Good problem-solving and time management skills.
·         Highly organized and detail-oriented.
·         Excellent computer skills, including experience with Microsoft Office Products, especially Microsoft Word and Excel. 
·         Experience working in an ERP system, NetSuite experience is a plus.
·         Ability to function effectively and positively within a team environment.
·         Ability to maintain confidentiality.

Supervisory Responsibility:
This position has no supervisory responsibilities.

Work Environment:
This job operates in a professional office environment. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets and fax machines.

The physical demands described here are representative of those that a Team Player must meet to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.

·         Regularly required to talk and hear. 

·         Frequently required to sit; stand; walk; use hands to finger, handle or feel; and reach with hands and arms.

·         Occasionally required to climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl. 

·         Must frequently lift and move up to 10 pounds and occasionally lift and move objects up to 25 pounds. 

·         Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.

Position Type/Expected Hours of Work:
This is a full-time, exempt position. Under the Regulations, Part 541, an exempt Team Player is one who is not entitled to the minimum wage or overtime pay protections of the Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA).  

Standard work days and hours are Monday through Friday, between 8:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m. This position may work outside of normal business hours, including evenings and weekends.

Travel:
5-10% travel is expected for this position. Must be willing to travel based on company need. Overnight trips may be necessary.
