General Purpose
The accountant assistant reports to the Controller and is responsible for assisting management with administrative and accounting duties such as analyzing trends, costs, revenues, financial commitments, and obligations incurred in order to predict future revenues and expenses. Assists in reporting the organization's finances to management and makes recommendations on resource use, tax tactics, and budget assumptions. Aids in the preparation of general ledger accountability, financial reporting, financial profitability analysis, and other special projects as assigned. Assist with the preparation of journal entries and reconciliations for the monthly close of the general ledger. Assist with financial statement preparation and delivery. Assist the Controller and the entire accounting team with internal and external audits as needed.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Providing support to the Accounting Department
- Assisting in reconciling account balances
- Performing basic office tasks, such as filing, data entry, answering phones, processing mail, ect.
- Handling communications with clients and vendors via phone, email, and in person if necessary.
- Processing transactions, updating ledgers, budgets, ect.
- Assisting with audits and resolving discrepancies.
- Assists team members when in need of accomplishing team goals.
- Assist in general accounting functions including journal entries, general ledger maintenance and account reconciliation, and month end accrual preparation.
- Assist with month-end financial and regulatory reports and closing processes.
- Assist in performing monthly, quarterly, and annual accounting activities including reconciliations of accounts, coordination, and completion of financial reporting for internal and external review.
- Assists with internal and external audit requirements.
- Work with multiple entities and different franchises under the same ownership.
- Handle and manage intercompany transactions as needed.
- Use computer software tools (Microsoft Outlook, Word, Excel, and QuickBooks) to record all financial transactions and perform other day-to-day commercial property accounting-related functions.
- Abide by all company policies and procedures.
- Perform all other duties as assigned and responsibilities as directed and assigned by the direct supervisor or Upper Management.

Requirements & Qualifications
- 2 years of accounting experience with a Bachelor’s degree in accounting or equivalent combination of education or experience required
- Ability to recognize numerical errors and good math abilities
- Ability to handle sensitive and confidential information
- Able to analyze financials and have basic bookkeeping skills
- Data entry and word processing skills
- Self-motivated and self-directed
- Accurate and precise attention to detail
- Excellent time management skills; able to prioritize
- Knowledge of bookkeeping and accounting best practices, laws, standards, and state regulations and Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP)
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Excellent customer service and interpersonal skills
- Ability to multi-task
- Experience with working with inter companies
- Experience with creating financial statements to include general ledger functions.
- Accuracy and attending to detail.
- Intermediate understanding of accounting and reporting standards, gaining experience in researching as it related to accounting issues.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
- Proficient in QuickBooks
- Speak, read, & write fluent English
