Summary:
Founded in 1996, CMES, Inc. is a rapidly growing, privately held Georgia-based civil construction company. We are seeking to add a Grading Foreman to our team to support our continued rapid growth within the highway construction industry.
Essential Job Duties and Responsibilities:
• Complete highway/road projects to job specifications and within the assigned time and budget as assigned by Superintendent
• Supervise and coordinate the activity of project crews, suppliers, and subcontractors to ensure that work is done safely, correctly, and timely
• Inspect quality of work to ensure company standards and project specifications are met
• Analyze and resolve work related problems
• Manage the timecards/sheets for each member of the project crew
• Assists with or conducts safety meetings on site as required/requested.
• Will ensure all equipment operators and laborers receive proper training and guidance before they are scheduled to complete a project on their own.
• Directs work progress of subcontractors on job sites assigned.
• Ensures subcontractors are meeting goals (daily/weekly, etc.) on a consistent basis.
• Routinely inventory project materials on company vehicles to ensure adequate supply necessary on stock items is present for job completion.
• Maintain a cooperative and positive working relationship with customers, coworkers, and the business community.
Skills / Qualifications:
- Knowledge of grading and stakes reading
- Ability to operate specialized equipment on job sites for finish grading
- Knowledge of traffic and erosion control
- Knowledge of construction technology, codes, standards, etc.
- Ability to read blueprints and delegate tasks at hand to the crew
- Knowledge of HCSS is a plus
Education and Experience:
• A High School Diploma or Equivalent
• 5-10 years of relevant experience, mainly in roadway projects
• Working experience mainly in roadway projects
Communication Skills:
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, plus demonstrated ability to work across varied disciplines
• Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing
• Ability to read and comprehend complex instructions, correspondence, and memos
• Ability to write simple correspondence.
• Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients, and other employees of the company
Reasoning Ability:
• Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete and abstract variables in situations where only limited standardization exists.
