Position Summary:
The Laboratory Technician will report to the Lab Supervisor and play a crucial role in advancing R&D projects with a strong emphasis on product development, ingredient research, formulation, and project management. The Laboratory Technician will report to the Lab Supervisor and play a crucial role in advancing R&D projects with a strong emphasis on product development, ingredient research, formulation, and project management. Roles and Responsibilities:
· Support project-driven activities within the R&D laboratory in line with specifications, standard operating procedures (SOPs), approved test methods, and safety policies.
· Prepare, mix, and formulate ingredients for product samples and experimental laboratory batches following provided guidelines.
· Initiate testing procedures and develop product standards for seamless transition to production.
· Research and evaluate new raw materials and ingredients for potential incorporation into products.
· Maintain comprehensive records of all laboratory activities in a laboratory notebook.
· Undertake general laboratory operations such as chemical inventory management, supply of consumables, disposal of expired products or samples, and maintaining overall organization.
· Ensure a safe and clean work environment, keeping work areas and laboratory equipment tidy and organized.
Qualifications and Education Requirements:
· Minimum of 1 year of experience in batch making, blending, mixing, or compounding.
· At least 1 year of experience in a chemical, food, dietary supplement, or cosmetic laboratory setting.
· Familiarity with GMP (Good Manufacturing Practices) or GLP (Good Laboratory Practices) environments is preferred.
· Hands-on experience with standard laboratory instruments and equipment.
· General knowledge of wet chemistry methods including weights, volumes and measures, viscosity, density, pH, and titrations.
· Basic computer skills, including proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, etc.).
· Experience with coatings, films, and/or polymers is a plus.
· A degree in Chemistry or a related science is highly preferred.
· High School diploma, GED, or technical school training with relevant work experience may also be acceptable.
Additional Skill Sets:
· Strong organizational and analytical skills, with effective time management capabilities.
· Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
· Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating instructions, and procedure manuals.
· Proficient in writing routine reports, logging data, and generating documents using a computer.
· Ability to walk and stand for extended periods, reach with hands or arms, and lift or carry up to 50 pounds as may be required.
Compensation:
· Hourly wage ranging from $16.00 to $20.00 per hour, based on experience and education.
