Seeking a well-qualified Florida CEI Inspector (ACI/ITS a plus) to join a growing DBE company pursuing FDOT projects across southwest, central and north Florida.
Drive Engineering provides Intelligent Transportation Systems (ITS), Traffic Engineering and Operations, and Construction Engineering and Inspection services in the Mid-Atlantic region.
Now expanding into Florida, Drive Engineering is looking for a FL CEI Inspector who is experienced, capable, energetic and self-motivated, with a solid work ethic and high standards for quality; someone who is honest and accountable, and respected by the project team.
The Drive Engineering FL CEI Inspector will:
- Have a high school diploma or GED (Technical/trade school? College?)
- Have a valid Florida Driver license with good driving record
- Be willing to travel
- Safely operate a company/personal vehicle
- Arrive to work on time
- Work outdoors in various weather conditions
- Work flexible shifts including overtime, if necessary, to support project requirements
- Communicate effectively – must speak, read and write in English
- Understand and follow company and FDOT standards and procedures

The Drive Engineering FL CEI Inspector will:
· Work under the general supervision of the Senior Inspector and/or Project Administrator
- Inspect the contractor’s on-site construction work-in-progress
- Sample and test materials to ensure compliance with plans, specifications, and other contract documents (QC experience?)
- Read and interpret construction plans and specifications
- Perform survey checks, field measurements using standard mathematical calculations
- Use computers and smart phones for web-browsing and email. Current software is Microsoft Outlook, Word and Excel and programs specific to FDOT, such as SiteManager and MAC
- Document all field activities and maintain detailed records of contractor operations such as manpower, equipment, construction methods, and events that affect the work
- Monitor work zone traffic and erosion control plans and identify discrepancies and potential issues
- Maintain project related files such as logs, photos, samples, back-up documents, weekly quantities, delivery tickets
- Complete a Daily Work Report (DWR)
The Drive Engineering FL CEI Inspector will:
· Have two (2) years of experience in construction inspection; one (1) year of which in bridge and/or roadway construction (Which Districts?)
· Hold required CTQP qualifications and certifications; be able to stay current by attending classes and passing examinations

- Florida Stormwater, Erosion and Sedimentation Control Training and Certification Program for Inspectors and Contractors
- Nuclear Radiation Safety
- FDOT Intermediate/Advanced MOT
- CTQP Asphalt Roadway Level I
- CTQP Final Estimates Level I
- CTQP Earthwork Construction Inspection Level I
- CTQP Concrete Field Inspector Level !
- ACI Concrete Field Testing Technician
- CTQP Drilled Shaft Inspection
- CTQP Pile Driving
- IMSA Traffic Signal Inspector Level 1
- FDOT Cyber Security Awareness
With permission from FDOT, missing certifications may be obtained within six (6) months from the date of hire.
Hourly rate and start date are flexible.
