Position – Senior Accountant
Department – Finance/Accounting
Rate of Pay (Hourly) $30.00 - $38.00
Reporting - Controller + Owners
Job Purpose
This project position is responsible for general ledger accounting, including analysis of business transactions to prepare journal entries, portions of the month-end close process, financial data preparation, account analysis and reconciliations. This position will take a lead role in helping process transactions related to the company’s sales and other transactions ensuring accuracy in accounting for these transactions. The successful applicant will have the skills necessary to follow financial accounting concepts and techniques for financial planning, reporting, and control.
Essential Duties
- Recording and approving of accounting transactions.
- Review balance sheet account reconciliations, identify errors, and provides feedback for corrections.
- Reconcile and analyze balance sheet accounts; post adjustments and corrections as needed. This includes bank reconciliations to the general ledger.
- Serve as a resource to help guide two Accounting Coordinators with daily tasks.
- Analyze data and troubleshoot problems.
- Post and review journal entries as required.
- Review, posts and/or adjust transactions with the input of the Controller.
Knowledge and Skills
- Strong current knowledge of Accounting Principles.
- Experience in automating Inventory and Accounts Payable processes.
- Proven ability to apply broad conceptual judgment and initiative to deal with accounting issues.
- Strong problem solving and analytical skills.
- Solid ability to communicate verbally and in writing.
- Solid ability to organize, manage and prioritize multiple tasks simultaneously, meet deadlines and follow up to ensure completion/resolution.
- Computer proficiency required, especially as related to the software referenced under “software utilized” (see below).
- Ability to function in a team-oriented environment.
Education - Bachelor of Science Degree in accounting or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
Experience - Minimum of 4 years of accounting experience needed with a good knowledge of monthly close process. Prior knowledge of automating Inventory and Accounts Payable processes with one or more of the industry top tools; Bill, Stampli, QuickBooks or others.
Software Utilized - Microsoft Office Products utilized are Word, Excel and Outlook. Accounting software utilized is - QuickBooks Enterprise Desktop
Compensation: $25.00 - $32.00 per hour
