Medical Records Specialist

Schedule: Monday-Friday, 9a-5p
Starting Pay: $18.50
Position Summary:
Medical Records Specialist will be responsible for a variety of duties necessary to run the Records Department efficiently, including but not limited to being crossed trained in all office position such as Client Service Specialist. He/She will serve as liaison for information and communication between clients and the medical record needs.
Position Responsibilities:
- Gathers all interoffice requests and distributes appropriately, ie: nurses and back staff lounge.
- Send medical records as requested as per signed ServiceNet release states.
- Answers all electronic records requests regarding medical records.
- Sends all Attendance Verification letters.
- Scans and uploads Rogers Affidavits & Treatment plans in to clients charts and tracks through log.
- Send and Logs Termination letter sent by Director of Med clinic.
- Maintains master client log by completing assigned task and tracking number of requests from various sources; corrects and communicates problems according to established procedures.
- Answers and logs all phone messages for Medical records dept.
- Retrieves medical records by following procedures; documenting reasons records cannot be released. i.e. non comply list.
- Starts Supervisory approval messages to appropriate supervisors.
- Accepts and forwards all Subpoena/Court Documents to supervisors.
- Maintains continuity of work operations by documenting and communicating actions, irregularities, and continuing needs.
- Maintains patient confidence by keeping patient records information confidential.
Qualifications:
- A high school diploma or GED certificate.
- Medical records experience preferred.
- Knowledge of medical terminology a plus.
- Basic computer skills.
- Attention to detail and quality focus.
- Communication skills.
