The Costing & Budgeting Manager will oversee the costing and budgeting functions within the organization. This role will lead a team responsible for accurate inventory valuation, grower accounting, and standard cost accounting in line with GAAP. The manager will provide financial analysis, variance explanations, and business insights to support multiple projects. The position also includes preparing the annual budget, forecasting, and collaborating across departments to drive financial performance.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead and manage the costing team to ensure accurate inventory costing, grower payments, and standard cost accounting.
  • Oversee the preparation of the annual budget, forecasts, and standard cost rolls.
  • Monitor inventory levels, optimize turnover, and minimize carrying costs.
  • Analyze cost trends and provide variance analysis, financial reports, and presentations to management.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to support process improvement and cost optimization initiatives.
  • Ensure compliance with internal controls and audit procedures, including SOX/J-SOX.
  • Train team members on budgeting systems, including D365 and Excel, and assist with budgeting for subsidiaries.
  • Support monthly financial closing, ensuring accuracy in manufacturing costs, inventory, and gross margins.
  • Manage the audit process and maintain financial compliance.
Required Skills & Experience:

  • Strong analytical, communication, and computer skills, with proficiency in Microsoft D365 and Excel.
  • In-depth knowledge of accounting principles, costing, and inventory valuation (seed industry experience preferred).
  • Experience in audit procedures, internal controls, and SOX/J-SOX compliance.
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in costing or budgeting, with 3+ years in a supervisory role.
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Business Administration; MBA preferred.
  • CPA or related certification is a plus.
Working Conditions:
