SVN | Wood Properties has served East Tennessee’s commercial real estate market for over 40 years. Our Building Maintenance team plays a critical role in ensuring properties remain safe, functional, and well-maintained for tenants and owners.
Position Overview
The Building Maintenance Specialist performs general repairs, preventative maintenance, and emergency response services for commercial properties in the Knoxville area. This role supports daily property operations and works closely with property managers and tenants.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform general maintenance tasks including plumbing, electrical, HVAC, and building repairs
- Complete work orders and document tasks using company mobile applications
- Conduct routine property inspections alongside management
- Respond to after-hours emergency maintenance needs as required
- Perform preventative maintenance (lighting, drains, filters, plumbing checks, minor roof inspections)
- Prepare vacant spaces for new tenants
- Track maintenance supplies and maintain accurate service records
- Coordinate with property managers and tenants to resolve maintenance issues
Qualifications
- Prior experience in building or facilities maintenance
- Working knowledge of HVAC, plumbing, and electrical systems
- Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills
- Ability to work independently and manage time effectively
- Clear communication and teamwork skills
Work Environment
- Combination of indoor and outdoor work environments
- Regular movement between properties
- Occasional after-hours or emergency response work
