Position: Journeyman Carpenter
Department: Reconstruction
Reports To: Reconstruction Manager / Project Manager
Position Summary
The Journeyman Carpenter is responsible for completing residential and commercial reconstruction projects following fire, water, storm, and other property damage. This role performs high-quality carpentry work, leads by example on job sites, and ensures projects are completed safely, efficiently, and to Paul Davis quality standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform all aspects of residential and commercial carpentry, including framing, finishing, drywall, doors, trim, flooring, cabinetry, and minor concrete work.
- Complete repairs and reconstruction according to project specifications, building codes, and company standards.
- Read and interpret drawings, scopes of work, and work orders.
- Maintain a safe, clean, and organized job site.
- Operate and maintain company vehicles, tools, and equipment.
- Identify deficiencies or changes in scope and communicate them to the Project Manager.
- Mentor apprentices and labourers while promoting safe work practices.
- Communicate professionally with customers, subcontractors, and team members.
- Accurately complete daily documentation, time records, and material tracking.
- Participate in an on-call rotation and work overtime when required.
Qualifications
- Alberta Journeyman Carpenter Certificate or recognized equivalent.
- Valid Class 5 driver's licence with a satisfactory driver's abstract.
- Strong knowledge of residential and commercial construction methods and Alberta building codes.
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and perform physically demanding work.
- Strong problem-solving skills, attention to detail, and commitment to quality workmanship.
