Core Responsibilities
Sign Design & File Preparation
- Create professional sign layouts, proofs, and design concepts based on customer needs and project requirements.
- Prepare accurate production-ready files for printing, cutting, routing, laser cutting, vinyl, and fabrication.
- Verify sizing, dimensions, materials, colors, quantities, and specifications before files are sent to production.
- Ensure design files meet RIP software, printer, cutter, CNC, laser, and other equipment requirements.
- Maintain brand consistency, layout accuracy, spelling accuracy, and overall design quality.
- Review customer artwork and determine whether files are usable or need adjustment.
- Make revisions quickly and accurately based on customer, sales, or production feedback.
- Organize and save design files in the correct company folders and naming format.
Customer Interface Support
- Assist with customer communication when needed, including answering phones or helping walk-in customers.
- Support the proofing and approval process by making revisions and preparing updated proofs.
- Communicate clearly with sales or project management when customer requests affect pricing, materials, timing, or scope.
- Help ensure customers receive accurate, professional, and visually clear proofs.
Print, Vinyl & Production Support
- Operate large-format printers as needed.
- Prepare files and materials for vinyl cutting, printing, lamination, finishing, and installation.
- Assist with weeding, masking, trimming, laminating, mounting, and finishing signs when needed.
- Prepare laser cut files and operate the laser machine when assigned.
- Support print and vinyl production by checking materials, colors, scale, and output quality.
- Coordinate with production team members to make sure files are ready before jobs move into fabrication.
- Identify possible production issues before files are printed, cut, routed, or installed.
Job Tracking & Documentation
- Maintain accurate job notes, design records, proof versions, and file history.
- Maintain paper job folders when required.
- Track customer revisions, approvals, and changes clearly.
- Update Trello, Corebridge, Google Workspace, or other company systems as required.
- Ensure design and production handoffs are complete before moving jobs forward.
- Confirm that required information is included, such as material type, thickness, size, quantity, color, cut method, installation notes, and special instructions.
- Communicate missing information to sales, project management, or production before work begins.
Equipment & Workspace Readiness
- Keep the design and production workspace clean, organized, and ready for daily use.
- Assist with printer, plotter, laser, and related equipment upkeep.
- Follow recommended equipment maintenance procedures.
- Report equipment issues, material shortages, software problems, or production concerns early.
- Follow shop workflow standards and safety procedures.
- Help maintain a clean, safe, and efficient production environment.
Continuous Improvement
- Learn new materials, fabrication methods, software tools, and production techniques.
- Stay current with Adobe Creative Suite, Flexi, Cutmaster 4, RIP software, and related design/production applications.
- Look for ways to improve design accuracy, production efficiency, file organization, and workflow.
- Support the use of SOPs and company procedures within the design and production process.
- Use AI design support tools when appropriate and approved by the company.
- Help identify workflow gaps and suggest improvements to management.
Qualifications

Required Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- Minimum of 3–5 years of experience in graphic design, sign design, print production, sign making, or a related field preferred.
- Experience in the sign industry, large-format printing, vinyl production, or fabrication is strongly preferred.
- Strong understanding of layout, sizing, scale, color, materials, and production requirements.
- Ability to manage multiple jobs, revisions, deadlines, and priorities at the same time.
- Strong attention to detail, especially with spelling, measurements, colors, file setup, and customer specifications.
- Ability to communicate clearly with customers, sales, production, installation, and management.
- Ability to follow procedures, take direction, and complete work accurately.
- Ability to work independently while keeping the team informed.
Technical Skills
- Strong working knowledge of Adobe Illustrator and Adobe Photoshop required.
- Experience with Adobe Creative Suite, Flexi, Cutmaster 4, RIP software, or similar sign/design production programs preferred.
- Ability to prepare print-ready, cut-ready, and production-ready files.
- Ability to operate or learn large-format printers, vinyl cutters, laminators, laser machines, and related production equipment.
- Ability to read and interpret work orders, proofs, measurements, job notes, production instructions, and customer specifications.
- Basic understanding of materials, vinyl, substrates, print settings, finishing methods, and sign production workflow.
- Ability to use or learn company systems such as Trello, Corebridge, Google Workspace, and file management platforms.

Compensation: $28.00 - $35.00 per hour
