Job Summary:
Behavioral Specialist II builds upon the foundational role of Behavioral Specialist I by taking on increased responsibilities in intervention strategies, program implementation, and team leadership. This role requires more experience in crisis management, behavior modification, and therapeutic support.

This role requires more experience in crisis management, behavior modification, and therapeutic support.
Key Responsibilities:
- All duties of Behavioral Specialist I, plus:
- Serve as a mentor and resource to Behavioral Specialist I staff.
- Assist in developing and modifying behavior intervention plans under clinical supervision.
- Lead small group activities focused on social skills, emotional regulation, and conflict resolution.
- Provide advanced crisis intervention and de-escalation support when necessary.
- Participate in treatment planning by providing behavioral observations and recommendations.
- Assist in training new staff members on behavioral intervention strategies.
- Work closely with clinical and direct care teams to ensure consistency in behavioral interventions.
Qualifications & Requirements:
- Associate’s degree required; Bachelor’s degree in Psychology, Social Work, Human Services, or a related field preferred.
- Minimum of 1-2 years of experience working with at-risk youth in a behavioral health or residential setting.
- Strong knowledge of trauma-informed care, behavior management techniques, and therapeutic interventions.
- Ability to lead small groups and provide mentorship to entry-level staff.
- Must pass background checks and meet state licensing requirements.
Work Environment & Physical Requirements:
- Ability to engage in crisis intervention and physical restraint techniques when necessary.
- Frequent standing, walking, and occasional lifting of up to 50 lbs.
- Exposure to emotionally challenging situations requiring patience, resilience, and strong problem-solving skills.
- Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings, weekends, and holidays as needed.
