PART-TIME MAINTENANCE TECHNICIAN

JOB SUMMARY: The Part-Time Maintenance Technician is responsible for performing various maintenance and custodial tasks to ensure the school facilities are clean, safe, and in good working condition. This position involves a range of duties including plumbing, electrical work, drywall repairs, HVAC and general facility upkeep. The employee will work closely with the building principal and other staff to meet daily operational needs while ensuring the building is maintained in a safe environment for students, staff, and visitors. This position is for our Media, PA location.

COMPENSATION: Hourly Rate: $25 - $50 per hour, based on qualifications and experience

HOURS: Hours vary weekly, with a guaranteed minimum of 10 hours per week, typically ranging between 10 and 20 hours. Work hours are flexible and can be adjusted based on employee availability and school needs.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Perform routine and emergency maintenance tasks, including plumbing repairs, electrical wiring, HVAC system troubleshooting, and drywall repairs. Ensure that all repairs are completed in a timely manner with safety as a top priority.
Assist with the upkeep of school facilities by performing custodial duties such as cleaning common areas, restrooms, and classrooms.
Respond to and complete maintenance requests to ensure smooth daily operations of the school. Monitor building systems to ensure they are functioning properly and report issues to the Director of Operations.
Maintain and organize maintenance supplies, ensuring adequate stock for ongoing needs. Travel in personal vehicle to purchase materials or supplies as required.
Work with school staff to address any facility-related issues that may affect the operation of the school. Must maintain a professional and respectful demeanor while working with students and staff.
Ensure that all maintenance tasks are performed in accordance with safety standards and local building codes. Adhere to school policies and procedures to ensure a safe environment for both staff and students.

Skills, Knowledge and/or Abilities Required:

Proven experience in a similar maintenance position or as a general contractor
Knowledge of plumbing, electrical systems, HVAC and general building maintenance
Ability to troubleshoot and perform basic repairs to maintain school facilities
Must be comfortable working in an educational setting with students in grades 5-12, including those with emotional and behavioral challenges
Must have valid driver's license, reliable transportation to and from work, and willingness to travel to secure materials or run errands as needed.
Other duties as assigned.

Note: This position requires clean criminal background and child abuse history checks/clearances as required under Pennsylvania school code.

Physical Requirements: Lift and carry materials as needed, and perform maintenance tasks that may require physical labor, including bending, climbing ladders, and moving equipment. May be required to lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Perform work in varying environmental conditions, including working in hot or cold areas, and handling cleaning supplies and maintenance materials.

Compensation: $25.00 - $50.00 per hour
