Job Title: Summer Maintenance Worker
Location: Leahy Square Apartments, Alameda County, CA
Pay Rate: $16.50 per hour
Schedule: Part-time (up to 32 hours/week), Monday through Friday, June 2 – August 1, 2025
Work Type: In-person
Eligibility:
- Must be at least 18 years old by the start of the program
- Open to current residents of Leahy Square Apartments
Position Summary:
This paid summer worker opportunity offers high school students an opportunity to gain hands-on experience in the field of apartment maintenance. Interns will work alongside our professional maintenance team to support the upkeep and operations of our housing community while learning about potential career paths in facilities management, construction, and other maintenance-related fields.
What You'll Learn and Do:
- Assist with basic maintenance tasks under supervision (e.g., cleaning common areas, organizing tools and materials, assisting with inventory)
- Observe and support routine repairs and unit inspections
- Learn about building systems and preventive maintenance
- Shadow skilled staff and ask questions about trade careers
- Attend safety trainings and daily check-ins
Training & Supervision:
Workers will receive on-the-job training and daily supervision from experienced maintenance professionals.
Qualifications:
- Interest in learning about maintenance, construction, or skilled trades
- Willingness to work with a team, follow directions, and be on time
- Positive attitude and commitment to the full 8-week program
