Position Summary:
The PET/Nuclear Medicine Technologist is responsible for performing both PET and Nuclear Medicine examinations during their shift, ensuring the delivery of high-quality diagnostic images and exceptional patient care.
The technologist will operate a Siemens Biograph 16 PET scanner and a GE Millennium MG gamma camera to perform a variety of imaging procedures based on established protocols.
Primary Responsibilities:
- Perform all assigned PET and Nuclear Medicine procedures accurately and safely.
- Administer and handle radiopharmaceuticals following state, federal, and institutional regulations.
- Prepare patients for imaging studies, explaining procedures and ensuring patient safety and comfort.
- Monitor patients throughout imaging for any adverse reactions and respond appropriately.
- Process and analyze imaging data to produce high-quality diagnostic images.
- Perform quality control procedures on imaging equipment regularly and report any equipment issues.
- Maintain accurate documentation of procedures, including dose administration and patient data.
- Adhere to radiation safety practices, including proper disposal of radioactive materials.
- Communicate effectively with radiologists, referring physicians, and healthcare team members.
- Assist in maintaining accreditation standards (e.g., ACR, IAC).

- Pylarify and Posluma PSMA Imaging (No Illuccix)
- Axumin (rarely)
- Amyloid Brain PET
- Cerianna PET (ER-Positive Breast Cancer Imaging)
Nuclear Medicine Studies:
- Bone Scans
- HIDA Scans
- Gastric Emptying Studies
- Thyroid Uptake and Scans
- Parathyroid Imaging
- Dual-Tracer WBC Studies (with Sulfur Colloid)
- I-131 Whole Body Scans (post-ablation only; ablations performed externally)
- MAG3 Renogram (with or without Lasix challenge)
- GFR Renogram (DTPA)
- PYP Cardiac SPECT for Amyloidosis Evaluation
Qualifications:
Education & Certification:
- Graduate of an accredited Nuclear Medicine Technology program.
- Current certification by one or more of the following:
- ARRT (N) or
- NMTCB (Nuclear Medicine Technology Certification Board).
- Current state licensure, if applicable.
- Current BLS (Basic Life Support) certification.
Experience:
- Minimum of 1 year experience in PET and Nuclear Medicine preferred.
- Familiarity with Siemens and GE imaging platforms preferred.
Skills:
- Strong knowledge of PET and Nuclear Medicine imaging procedures and protocols.
- Excellent patient care and communication skills.
- Proficient in radiation safety and regulatory compliance.
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
- Proficiency with PACS and RIS systems.
Working Conditions:
- Regular exposure to radiation with adherence to strict safety protocols.
- Frequent standing, walking, lifting, and assisting patients.
- May require occasional evenings, weekends, or on-call coverage based on department needs.
