The Direct Support Professional (DSP) shall be responsible for the day-to-day supervision and support of consumers in an assigned residential program. DSPs are responsible for providing quality care and support to all consumers.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE BUT ARE NOT LIMITED TO:
● Participate in Plan development
● Provide a safe, structured, and therapeutic environment
● Act as a liaison on behalf of LVAS to families/constituents of consumers
● Perform ‘Activities of Daily Living’ and client care as assigned
● Assist clients while transferring and/or ambulating
● Attend Interdisciplinary Team meetings as assigned
● Attend monthly client Individual Support (ISP), monitoring, and Care Plan meetings with support coordinators and consumers
● Aide in compliance with all State laws and Local regulatory rules
● Act as Incident Commander in the event of an emergency
● Daily Documentation, Scheduling and Participation in Community Integrated Activities
● Perform other related duties as required or assigned
QUALIFICATIONS
● Valid Driver's License.
● Excellent customer service skills
● Effective communication both oral and written
● Ability to work independently and as a competent team player
● Capability of lifting without restrictions
● FBI fingerprint (as required), PA Criminal Background Check, Child Abuse Clearance, Drug Screen, Physical
EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
● Bachelor's degree (preferred). High School Diploma or Equivalent mandatory At least one (1) year of experience working in human services and skills to work with dually diagnosed adults.
HOURS OF WORK
Full Time, including weekends
LANGUAGE SKILLS
Ability to read and interpret documents such as procedure manuals and work instructions. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak and communicate well with customers and staff.
CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS
Must successfully pass PA medication Administration Course, Community Participation Support Course and other trainings. Must complete 24 hours of additional training annually.
