Job Summary:

This role is responsible for the upkeep and general maintenance of housing properties, ensuring clean, safe, and operational environments. The position involves a wide range of custodial and maintenance duties, including electrical, plumbing, carpentry, HVAC, and groundskeeping, with an emphasis on accountability and collaboration across the organization.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Complete and document all work orders, prioritizing emergency repairsand meeting completion deadlines.
  • Conduct routine inspections and perform maintenance on common areas, building systems, and apartment units.
  • Execute basic electrical, plumbing, carpentry, and HVAC repairs.Manage apartment turnovers, including cleaning and painting, within established timelines.
  • Maintain supply inventories and ensure all service and storage areas are clean and well-organized.
  • Support emergency response and participate in on-call rotation for 24-hour maintenance coverage.
Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Minimum of 1 year of experience in building maintenance.
  • Valid Virginia drivers license and reliable vehicle required.
  • Must own tools necessary to perform job duties.
  • Ability to pass a background check and insurance review.
  • OSHA and HVAC certification preferred.
Physical and Sensory Requirements:

  • Ability to walk, climb, sit, and stand for extended periods of time.
  • Capability to reach, bend, and lift a minimum of 10 lbs.
  • Fine hand coordination for handling and operating tools and devices.
  • Proficient in reading, writing, speaking, and listening clearly and effectively.
  • Ability to understand and follow both written and oral instructions and directions.
  • Must possess the ability to remain calm and composed under pressure.
  • Capable of operating a vehicle and traveling as needed for the role.
  • Must be able to use a computer, cell phone, monitor, mouse, and keyboard extensively.
Compensation: $18.00 - $22.00 per hour
