Role: Maintenance Mechanic
Location:  Swedesboro, NJ

Position Summary:

The Maintenance Mechanic is responsible for installing, maintaining, changing over, and repairing plant equipment—including processing, packaging, and support systems—to ensure optimal quality, productivity, and safety.

Essential Functions:

  • Perform regular and preventive maintenance to minimize unscheduled downtime.

  • Efficiently execute equipment changeovers.

  • Troubleshoot and repair electrical, pneumatic, and mechanical systems.

  • Fabricate parts or materials to maintain/upgrade equipment as needed.

  • Interpret blueprints, schematics, and exploded parts diagrams.

  • Complete corrective actions and write work orders using MVP software.

  • Initiate purchase of parts and materials to support the maintenance program.

  • Follow proper Lockout/Tagout, confined space, and hot work permit procedures.

  • Recommend equipment upgrades and improvements.

  • Maintain craftsmanship standards and ownership of work performed.

  • Report breakdowns exceeding 10 minutes to Supervisor.

  • Learn and understand PLCs (Programmable Logic Controls) and ladder logic.

  • Participate in training and upskilling for new technologies.

Additional Responsibilities:

  • Operate basic computer programs (email, MVP, Microsoft Office).

  • Assist with vendor coordination for assigned projects.

  • Support other mechanics as needed.

  • Perform carpentry, plumbing, and masonry work when required.

  • Adhere to GMP, safety, and environmental guidelines.

  • Report safety hazards to Supervisor or EHS Department.


Qualifications:

  • Electrical experience preferred.

  • Experience reading technical diagrams, tables, gauges, and instruments.

  • Strong mechanical aptitude and problem-solving skills.

  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs regularly, and over 50 lbs with assistance.

  • Comfortable working in elevated, confined, wet, cold, or hot environments.

  • Capable of climbing ladders up to 30 feet.

  • Excellent verbal communication and interpersonal skills.

  • Authorized to work in the United States.

Language & Math Skills:

  • Ability to read and write standard correspondence and interpret technical documentation.

  • Perform basic math (add, subtract, multiply, divide, fractions, decimals).

  • Understand and convert measurement units.

Physical Demands:

  • Regular mobility across the production floor.

  • Frequent use of hand/power tools and machinery.

  • Frequent reaching, stooping, kneeling, crouching, and crawling.

  • Occasional exposure to loud noise, fumes, extreme temperatures, and moving parts.

  • Use of personal protective equipment (PPE) as required.

Work Environment:

  • Exposure to wet, cold, or humid environments.

  • High noise levels and mechanical operations.

  • Potential contact with caustic chemicals and electrical components.

  • Elevated or confined workspace conditions.

Compensation: $30.00 - $35.00 per hour
