Our Story
The Cormorant Boutique Hotel started off in the mid-1940s as the Prospect Market, the only market in the beachfront community of La Jolla Village.
In the 1960s, hotel rooms were added to the market, and the business operated as La Jolla Inn for several decades. The property has undergone a top-to-bottom renovation, and the inn has been transformed into the contemporary, modern Cormorant Boutique Hotel, which features a minimalist vibe, unobstructed panoramic ocean views, and La Jolla’s hottest lounge and bar, the Birdseye, on the remodeled rooftop. The hotel’s unique name comes from the bird that shares our La Jolla home, the cormorant.
