Position Summary
At RGI Creative, we build more than exhibits—we build moments of connection and understanding. The Estimator plays a foundational role in transforming conceptual designs into feasible, high-impact realities. This role is pivotal in aligning creative vision with production viability, ensuring that every project we undertake is both inspiring and executable.
Responsibilities
Estimating & Budgeting
- Prepare accurate and detailed cost estimates for custom exhibits, environments, and interactive installations.
- Evaluate and quantify labor, materials, subcontractor services, equipment, and logistics for each project.
- Analyze design documentation including renderings, technical drawings, and written briefs to scope complexity and requirements.
- Propose value-engineered alternatives that balance creative integrity with budget realities.
- Maintain up-to-date cost libraries, labor rates, and vendor data to support reliable forecasting.
Collaboration & Communication
- Partner with designers, engineers, project managers, and fabrication leads to fully understand project scope and requirements.
- Communicate estimate details clearly across departments, ensuring seamless handoffs from sales through production.
- Support proposal writing and participate in client-facing efforts including bids, clarifications, and scope revisions.
- Attend internal kickoff meetings and actively contribute to production planning based on estimates.
Vendor & Subcontractor Coordination
- Solicit and manage quotes from vendors, subcontractors, and consultants.
- Establish and maintain strong working relationships with suppliers and partners.
Process Management
- Improve and evolve internal estimation processes and documentation.
- Track actual project costs against estimates to inform future project pricing strategies.
Qualifications
Required
- 3+ years of estimating experience in exhibits, events, architecture, fabrication, or a related industry.
- In-depth knowledge of construction materials, custom fabrication techniques, AV integration, and installation workflows.
- Proficiency in reading and interpreting CAD drawings, blueprints, and renderings.
- Strong analytical skills with precision and accuracy in budgeting.
- Effective communication and time management skills, particularly across multiple concurrent projects.
- Comfort with Microsoft Excel and estimating tools; familiarity with Smartsheet or equivalent platforms.
Preferred
- Background in design, engineering, or construction management.
- Experience with 3D modeling or estimating software tools.
- Awareness of sustainable materials and environmentally conscious estimating practices.
