About the Role 

As a Lead Dog Groomer at Scenthound, you’ll be responsible for leading the back-of-house team performing bathing and grooming services while driving results through mentorship, motivation, and operational excellence. This role requires someone who thrives in a fast-paced environment, leads by example, and brings dog handling experience and a strong sense of accountability to the team. The Lead Trimmer will set the standard for safety and quality, team performance, and service consistency, while training and supporting Dog Bathers and aspiring Groomers. 

What You’ll Do 

·         Groom dogs to Scenthound’s standards of a puppy cut: one length all-over with a neat face 

·         Train and mentor Dog Bathers and Groomers-in-training 

·         Create a positive and collaborative team environment that encourages growth and proficiency

·         Set the pace and tone for productivity and efficiency in the back-of-house while prioritizing safety standards. 

·         Manage and support staff to maintain service flow and on-time services 

·         Identify areas for improvement and implement solutions 

·         Ensure dog safety and sanitation protocols are always followed to provide a stress-free experience for dogs and team members

·         Someone who is adaptable, innovative, and solution-oriented 

·         Strong leadership and communication skills to motivate and mentor team members 

·         Confidence and empathy in handling dogs of all sizes and temperaments 

·         A team player who takes initiative, follows through, and holds others accountable

·         A passion for coaching and developing others 

·         At least one year of grooming experience or graduation from a grooming school

·         Knowledge of dog breeds, care standards, and tools of the trade 

·         Strength to lift 70 pounds; stamina to stand for long periods of time
