The Lead Infant Teacher is responsible for creating and maintaining a safe, nurturing, and stimulating environment for infants (typically ages 6 weeks to 12 months). This role includes developing age-appropriate curriculum, ensuring health and safety compliance, and fostering strong communication with families. The Lead Teacher serves as a role model for assistant teachers and works collaboratively with the center leadership to promote high-quality early childhood education.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Classroom Leadership:
     
    • Develop and implement a developmentally appropriate curriculum that promotes physical, emotional, cognitive, and social development.
  •  
    • Create a warm, responsive, and respectful classroom environment.
  •  
    • Guide and support assistant teachers in daily routines and interactions.
    •  
  • Infant Care:
     
    • Provide consistent, nurturing care including feeding, diapering, napping, and individualized attention.
  •  
    • Observe and document developmental milestones and communicate progress to parents.
  •  
  • Health & Safety:
     
    • Maintain a clean, safe, and organized classroom in accordance with licensing regulations and center policies.
  •  
    • Adhere to all health and safety procedures, including diapering, sanitizing, and safe sleep practices.
  •  
  • Family Engagement:
     
    • Build strong relationships with families through daily communication, conferences, and progress updates.
  •  
    • Address parent concerns with professionalism and empathy.
  •  
  • Team Collaboration:
     
    • Serve as a mentor and leader within the classroom team.
  •  
    • Participate in staff meetings, training sessions, and center events.
  •  

Qualifications:

  • Minimum of a CDA (Child Development Associate) credential; Associate or Bachelor’s degree in Early Childhood Education preferred.
  • At least 1-2 years of experience in an infant classroom.
  • Strong understanding of infant development and early learning principles.
  • CPR and First Aid certification (or willingness to obtain).
  • Ability to lift up to 40 lbs and perform physical tasks associated with infant care.

Compensation: $16.00 - $20.00 per hour
