Job Title: Distribution Operations Manager
Location: St. Augustine, FL (moving to Palm Coast, FL)

Objective:

The Distribution Operations Manager will play a critical role in enhancing our distribution center operations and capabilities, ensuring efficient and effective delivery of services with a keen focus on execution and meeting customer needs. This leadership position will drive optimization and innovation within our distribution center and foster strategic relationships with transportation vendors and supply chain stakeholders that support the company's business growth and operational excellence. By prioritizing profitability, customer satisfaction, and performance, the DOM will ensure that our operations not only meet but exceed company, customer and franchisee expectations.

Essential Functions/Key Responsibilities:

  • Strategy Development: Design and implement overall distribution operation strategies, aligning with organizational goals and focusing on both internal distribution and external opportunities.
  • 3PL Operations: Identify, develop, and manage 3PL business opportunities, ensuring that logistics capabilities meet client needs while maximizing profitability.
  • Automation and Technology: Lead initiatives related to the integration and optimization of automation technologies, including conveyor systems and other advanced logistics solutions, to streamline distribution processes.
  • Process Improvement: Utilize methodologies such as Lean and Six Sigma to analyze and improve logistics operations, focusing on reducing waste, improving throughput, optimizing space, inventory control, and enhancing service delivery.
  • Transportation Management: Build and maintain partnerships with transportation vendors to ensure efficient logistics operations and superior service levels, negotiating contracts and terms to optimize costs and reliability.
  • Performance Metrics: Develop and monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) for logistics operations, achieving daily shipped value goals, regularly reporting on progress and implementing actions to enhance service reliability and efficiency.
  • Team Leadership: Plan ahead to forecast capacity needs. Provide oversight, motivation and mentorship to staff, including Receiving, order Fulfillment, Inventory Management, and Shipping operations. Promote a culture of continuous improvement and accountability while developing talent within the organization.
  • Additional responsibilities assigned as required.
 

Qualifications and Requirements:

  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in Logistics, Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, or a related field is preferred. 
  • Experience: 7+ years of distribution center management or logistics management experience, with at least 5 years in a leadership role in a 3PL or high output distribution center. Experience in 3PL environments and managing automated systems is a must.
  • Technical: Strong knowledge of warehouse and logistics software systems (e.g., WMS) and automation technologies, including conveyor systems, with the ability to leverage technology to optimize operations.
  • Process Improvement: Proven track record of utilizing process improvement methodologies (e.g., Lean, Six Sigma) to drive continuous enhancement and performance.
  • Leadership: Exceptional leadership and team-building abilities, with a focus on fostering collaboration, motivating teams, driving and achieving departmental goals.
  • Analytical: Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the capacity to make data-driven decisions.
  • Communication: Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to effectively present ideas and influence teams and stakeholders at all levels.

  • Ability to perform repetitive tasks (8+ hours per day).
  • Ability to visually identify products and their characteristics (8+ hours per day).
  • Frequently climb ladders and stairs (as needed).
  • Operation of, but not limited to, stocking, picking, inventory, packaging, kitchen, and computer tools and equipment (8+ hours per day). 
  • Consistently work around spices and aromas (8+ hours per day).
