Position Overview

We are seeking a skilled Information System Security Officer (ISSO) – Mid Level to support the implementation and enforcement of cybersecurity policies, procedures, and safeguards for information systems. The ISSO will assist in the development of system security documentation, support risk management activities, and ensure compliance with federal and organizational cybersecurity requirements.

Key Responsibilities:

Support the development, review, and maintenance of System Security Plans (SSPs) and associated documents.
Assist with security control implementation and continuous monitoring activities.
Coordinate and support the Assessment and Authorization (A&A) process under the Risk Management Framework (RMF).
Conduct vulnerability assessments and assist in remediation planning and implementation.
Monitor and report on the security posture of assigned systems.
Respond to security incidents and support incident response efforts.
Ensure systems maintain compliance with applicable federal, DoD, or agency-specific cybersecurity policies.
Provide security guidance to system owners and technical teams.
Maintain required security documentation and records in accordance with governance.
Support internal and external audits, inspections, and reviews.

Required Qualifications:

Education: Bachelor’s degree in Information Security, Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related field.
Experience: Minimum of 3 years of experience in information security, cybersecurity compliance, or risk management.
Working knowledge of RMF, NIST 800-53 controls, and A&A processes.
Familiarity with common security tools, vulnerability scanners, and audit techniques.

Certifications:

Required: CompTIA Security+ or equivalent
Preferred: CAP, CISSP, or CISM

Preferred Qualifications:

Experience supporting federal or DoD information systems
Understanding of audit and compliance requirements for CJIS, FISMA, or FedRAMP
Excellent documentation and communication skills
