🛑 Read This Before You Apply:
If you're just trying to clock in, check a few vitals, and ride it out until shift change—this ain't it. We're not for burnt-out medics or "just here for the ride" types. We're a small, scrappy, three-truck rescue squad fighting hard to be there for our people before 911 is ever needed. And that takes hustle.
You’ll wear multiple hats. You’ll be needed. You’ll be seen.
We treat every patient like they’re family—because in a town like ours, they are.
We treat every patient like they’re family—because in a town like ours, they are.
💥 What We’re About:
We’re Jackson First Alert Rescue Squad—a community-rooted, member-led, nonprofit EMS service working closely with our patients to prevent 911 calls, not just respond to them. That means we do more than transport. We engage. We support. We show up.
We’re building something new here—and we’re looking for driven, innovative EMTs who want to help lay the foundation. Whether it’s your first EMS job or your fifth, if you’ve still got fire in you, we’ve got a seat on the rig.
💪 What You’ll Be Doing:
- Respond to both non-emergency and emergency calls with speed, respect, and care
- Assess and treat patients like it actually matters (because it does)
- Never call it “just a pain call”—we don't play that game
- Keep your rig stocked, clean, and ready for anything
- Communicate clearly with dispatch, hospitals, teammates, and the public
- Show up for your crew, even on your day off if it counts
- Participate in our Community Connex Program (community outreach, elderly wellness visits, safety checks—you name it)
- Bring ideas to the table and help us grow
- Use your downtime in our amenity-stocked station to reset, and suggest ways to make it even better
🧠Required Qualifications:
-
BLS Certification (Required)
- Valid driver's license + clean record
- State EMT certification (per SC and national standards)
- Critical thinking and the ability to stay calm under pressure
- No ego, no excuses—you’re here for the team
- Willingness to wear more than one hat
🎯 Ideal Candidate:
- Â Energetic, and hungry to grow
- Wants to be part of something real, not just a payroll
- Has compassion for the elderly, underserved, and local folks
- Can show up early, stay late, or cover a shift without whining
- Likes working in small teams where everyone counts
- Brings good vibes to the truck and ideas to the table
- Isn’t afraid to laugh hard or work harder
đź’¸ What You Get:
-
Major Medical Insurance
-
401(k) retirement plan
-
40 hours PTO
-
Free continuing education/training
- Elected leadership (by membership—not corporate suits)
- Cool station perks for downtime (and growing based on your feedback!)
- A tight-knit crew that’s got your back
- A chance to build the future of EMS in Jackson with us
🙅‍♂️ Don't Apply If:
- You think “it’s just transport”
- You need someone to hold your hand every shift
- You don’t believe in pulling your weight
- You’re too tired to care
- You think patient care ends at the curb
âś… Do Apply If:
- You care about people
- You’re gritty, reliable, and still give a damn
- You want to make EMS feel right again
- You believe EMS should prevent calls, not just respond to them
- You're ready to grow with a squad that’s growing too

Jackson First Alert (JFARS) is a 501(c)(3) non-profit rescue squad located in Jackson, South Carolina.
Jackson First Alert Team, as it was originally named was enacted in 1979, responded from members homes and front yards. In 1980 a charter was received from the Secretary of State declaring Jackson First Alert an eleemosynary corporation. The town of Jackson donated an old police car for members to respond to emergency calls. In 1982, we began operating as a full-fledged ambulance service when we acquired the first ambulance. In 1992, we acquired land and built a station from which we still reside in as of today. We are staffed by volunteers and full time employees, who donate their time and expertise to provide Emergency Medical Care to the citizens. In addition to providing EMS care for our local community, we provide assistance to Aiken County EMS and provide medical coverage for numerous events across the county. Jackson First Alert is a proud supporter of the United Way.
Â
Jackson First Alert currently operates two ambulances. Ambulances are equipped to provide Advanced Life Support.Â
