Experienced Pediatric Home Health Aide (HHA)

Position Summary:
We are seeking a compassionate, skilled, and dependable Home Health Aide (HHA) with proven experience providing care for medically needy children, including those with Down syndrome and developmental disabilities. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in pediatric in-home care, excellent communication skills, and the ability to work collaboratively with families and healthcare providers to ensure the child’s health, safety, and quality of life.
We are seeking a compassionate, skilled, and dependable Home Health Aide (HHA) with proven experience providing care for medically needy children, including those with Down syndrome and developmental disabilities. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in pediatric in-home care, excellent communication skills, and the ability to work collaboratively with families and healthcare providers to ensure the child’s health, safety, and quality of life.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide personal care assistance to children, including bathing, grooming, dressing, toileting, and feeding, while promoting independence when possible.
- Monitor and assist with activities of daily living (ADLs) in accordance with the child’s care plan.
- Support children with Down syndrome and developmental disabilities by implementing individualized support strategies.
- Assist with mobility, including transfers, positioning, and range-of-motion exercises.
- Administer prescribed medications (as allowed by state law) and monitor for side effects or adverse reactions.
- Prepare nutritious meals and assist with feeding as needed.
- Maintain a clean, safe, and supportive home environment.
- Observe, record, and report any changes in the child’s physical or emotional condition to the supervising nurse or care coordinator.
- Provide companionship and encourage participation in age-appropriate activities, hobbies, and community outings.
- Assist with therapeutic activities as directed by physical, occupational, or speech therapists.
- Educate and support family members on proper care techniques and safety precautions.
- Follow all agency policies, HIPAA regulations, and infection control procedures.
- Participate in ongoing training to maintain professional skills and knowledge.
Qualifications:
- Current Home Health Aide (HHA) certification in the State of Florida (or eligible to transfer certification).
- Minimum 2 years of experience providing pediatric care, including medically fragile children.
- Experience working with children with Down syndrome and developmental disabilities.
- CPR and First Aid certification (required).
- Ability to lift and transfer children safely (per care plan requirements).
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Compassion, patience, and dedication to supporting children and their families.
- Reliable transportation and a valid driver’s license.
Work Environment:
This position involves providing in-home care and may require travel to different client homes. The role requires flexibility, empathy, and the ability to adapt care to meet each child’s unique needs.
Compensation: $17.00 per hour
