Certified Ombudsperson – Government Contract Opportunity
Location: Newport News, VA (On-Site at Jefferson Lab)
Contract Type: 1099 Independent Contractor

We are seeking a highly qualified, Certified Ombudsperson to serve as a neutral, confidential, and impartial conflict resolution practitioner for a prestigious Department of Energy National Accelerator Facility. This is an exciting opportunity to provide professional Ombudsperson Services under a federal contract, supporting a diverse and innovative workplace. 

Key Responsibilities: 
  • Provide informal, confidential assistance to staff, scientific users, and stakeholders.
  • Facilitate resolution of workplace concerns in a fair, unbiased, and professional manner.
  • Offer conflict coaching, mediation, and consultation while maintaining neutrality.
  • Identify and communicate trends, patterns, and systemic concerns to leadership while preserving confidentiality.
  • Uphold the highest ethical standards and the International Ombuds Association (IOA) Code of Ethics.

Required Qualifications:
  • Minimum 10 years of experience as a Certified Ombudsperson in a professional or higher-education environment.
  • Strong background in workplace mediation, conflict resolution, and organizational problem-solving.
  • Excellent communication, listening, and facilitation skills.
  • Proven ability to operate independently and maintain strict confidentiality.
  • Familiarity with government, research, or higher education environments preferred.

Contract Details:
  • Anticipated start date: September 2025
  • Location: Jefferson Lab – Newport News, VA (on-site presence required)
  • Competitive hourly rate commensurate with experience.
  • Opportunity to work under a respected small business prime contractor.
