Company: Augustine Angels

About Us
Augustine Angels is a trusted provider of professional services to government and healthcare partners nationwide. We specialize in supporting innovation, workforce development, and program delivery in high-impact sectors. We are seeking an Entrepreneur-in-Residence (EiR) with deep expertise in digital health, AgeTech, and healthcare commercialization to support the National Institute on Aging (NIA) Small Business Innovation Research (SBIR/STTR) community.

This is a unique opportunity to directly shape the future of aging-related innovations by mentoring and guiding NIH-funded entrepreneurs as they bring new technologies to market.

Role Overview
The EiR will serve as a strategic advisor and mentor to NIA-funded startups, providing hands-on guidance in business development, commercialization, regulatory pathways, investor engagement, and product-market fit. The EiR will also support entrepreneurial training initiatives such as the NIA Startup Challenge and help connect innovators with investors and industry partners.

This is a part-time (20 hours/week) role with a base period of one year and option years for renewal. The place of performance is remote (U.S.-based), with limited travel (2–3 events per year) to major life science and healthcare investor conferences (all travel expenses covered).

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide strategic mentorship and technical guidance to NIH-funded startups in digital health and AgeTech.
  • Advise on commercialization strategy, product development partnerships, and competitive positioning.
  • Prepare innovators for engagements with investors, payers, regulatory agencies, and strategic partners.
  • Contribute to entrepreneurial training programs, including serving as an advisor/instructor for the NIA Startup Challenge.
  • Develop and deliver presentations, workshops, and educational content for the NIH innovator community.
  • Leverage personal investor and industry networks to make introductions for NIH-funded companies.
  • Support occasional in-person investor/partnering events (~2–3 annually, travel covered).
  • Provide written reports, event summaries, and conflict of interest disclosures per program requirements.

Qualifications
Required:
  • 7+ years of experience in entrepreneurship, business development, or commercialization within healthcare, digital health, or AgeTech.
  • Proven track record of successfully bringing products or services to market.
  • Strong network of investors, venture capitalists, or strategic partners in life sciences and healthcare.
  • Deep understanding of regulatory and reimbursement pathways in healthcare.
  • Excellent communication, mentorship, and networking skills.

Preferred:
  • Experience mentoring startups in SBIR/STTR programs or government-funded initiatives.
  • Familiarity with elder care, longevity, or AgeTech markets.
  • Experience serving as an EiR, accelerator mentor, or investor advisor.

Compensation & Benefits
  • Competitive hourly rate (based on experience)
  • Flexible, part-time schedule (20 hrs/week, remote-first)
  • Travel expenses covered for approved events
  • Opportunity to directly shape the future of innovation in aging and digital health

How to Apply
Submit your resume, and a short cover letter highlighting:
  • Your experience bringing digital health or AgeTech innovations to market
  • Examples of investor or partner networks you’ve leveraged
  • Your interest in mentoring and supporting NIH-funded startups
