Job Summary
We are looking for an Automotive Technician to join our successful dealership service center.
As an Automotive Technician, you will be responsible for diagnosing and repairing vehicles. You must be comfortable using the dealership’s computer software and have extensive knowledge of vehicle systems.
If you have a “never give up” attitude and are willing to problem-solve until you find the best solution for the customer, we want to hear from you.
Responsibilities
- Use your expertise and diagnostic tools to evaluate vehicle malfunction codes
- Assist with establishing service center procedures for tracking repair status, maintaining technical documentation, and other necessary protocols
- Carry out routine vehicle maintenance tasks such as tire rotations, oil changes, and brake pad replacements
- Conduct in-depth vehicle inspections of all systems, including engine, transmission, and brakes
- Ensure a high level of customer satisfaction and repeat business
- Convey necessary vehicle repair information to customers in a clear and concise manner
Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED is required
- An associate degree or completion of an automotive service technician training program is preferred
- Automotive Service Excellence/ASE certification or Society of Automotive Engineers/SAE certification is preferred
- Strong customer service and communications skills are required
Compensation: $60,000.00 - $80,000.00 per year
Meet the Modern Brake & Alignment Team
Richard I. Ray (Ivan) founder of Modern Brake Alignment Shop began his automotive career at a shop on Route 66 in 1956, then known as the DX Station. After leasing the building for six years, Ivan purchased and began operations at 607 Keokuk Street in Lincoln. Later the State of Illinois and the City of Lincoln wanted to widen Keokuk St. with four lanes of traffic and 6 feet of sidewalk in front of the three service bay doors. The State of Illinois would not allow the business to remain at that location. Ivan had purchased another piece of property in 1972, in anticipation of future expansion. With the street widening in 1980, it was decided to build a new facility of six bays to better serve our customers' needs. So a new facility was built at 1000 Commercial Park, our current location.
Kevin M. Ray (Ivan’s eldest son) has been a part of the family business since 1972, with a five year leave that occurred from 1991 to 1996. In 1997, Kevin and his son-in-law, Tim Canady, joined Modern Brake & Alignment Shop then in turn became Modern Brake & Alignment, INC. Ivan became president and CEO of the corporation. In June 1997, Modern Brake & Alignment, INC expanded once again but this time with the product line Firestone Tires.
In 2022, Kevin Ray retired and sold the property and business to his daughter and son-in-law, Liberty and Timothy Canady.
