Job Overview:
AIMS Locum Tenens is seeking a compassionate and experienced Registered Nurse (RN) to join the Radiation Oncology team at NMCP. This position supports patients throughout their radiation treatment journey—preparation, delivery, monitoring side effects, and providing patient education and support. The RN works as part of an interdisciplinary team that includes radiation oncologists, therapists, and technicians.
General Duties:
- Provide services within the scope of nursing licensure and clinical privileges
- Collaborate with oncology teams to ensure safe and effective care
- Deliver patient-centered education about radiation treatment plans and side effects
- Document all patient encounters accurately in the electronic health record
- Participate in training and performance improvement initiatives
Specific Duties:
- Assess and monitor patients undergoing radiation therapy
- Provide education on radiation procedures, potential side effects, and aftercare
- Monitor for complications or adverse reactions and initiate interventions as needed
- Coordinate appointments, follow-ups, and referrals
- Assist in procedures and act as a patient advocate during treatment
- Participate in case management and treatment team conferences
- Communicate test results, provider instructions, and treatment updates to patients
- Ensure compliance with safety and infection control guidelines
Qualifications:
Degree:
- Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN)
Education:
- Graduate from an institution accredited by the National League for Nursing Accrediting Commission (NLNAC) or Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education (CCNE)
Certification:
- Basic Life Support (BLS) required
- Oncology or radiation certification preferred but not required
Experience:
- Minimum one year of recent RN experience in radiation oncology, general oncology, or an outpatient oncology setting
Licensure:
- Current, unrestricted RN license valid in any U.S. state or territory
Skills and Abilities:
- Knowledge of radiation oncology procedures and patient care needs
- Strong patient communication and education skills
- Experience using electronic medical records (e.g., MHS Genesis)
- Ability to work collaboratively in a multidisciplinary cancer care team
- Professional, empathetic, and detail-oriented

Schedule:
- Monday through Friday
- Shifts between 0700 and 1900 (7 AM to 7 PM)
- Shifts typically 8.5 to 10.5 hours, including lunch breaks
- No weekends or holidays required
Work Environment:
- Outpatient radiation oncology clinic
- Structured, team-based setting with cancer care focus
- May assist in case coverage or related departments during staffing shortages
Immunization Requirement:
- Proof of Varicella, MMR, TDAP, Hep B, Influenza, TB screening required
- Must complete NAVMED 6260/91 or DHA equivalent form
Security Requirement:
- Must pass background investigation and credentialing process
- May take up to 90 days for full clearance
