A Chimney Sweep/Project Manager/Sales professional is a multi-faceted role that combines technical expertise, project management skills, and a strong sales and customer service orientation. This individual is responsible for not only performing the physical tasks of a chimney sweep but also for managing projects from start to finish and selling additional services and products to clients. This is not an installationA position but will require a knowledge of all aspects of chimney and fireplace functions which can be taught to the right candidate
Key Responsibilities:
1. Chimney Sweeping and Technical Services:
- Perform thorough inspections of chimneys, fireplaces, and venting systems to identify issues such as creosote buildup, damage, or safety hazards.
- Clean chimneys and flues using specialized tools, including brushes, rods, and industrial vacuum cleaners.
- Conduct minor repairs and maintenance, such as creosote treatments, repairing damaged masonry, and installing dampers and caps.
- Use diagnostic cameras to assess the chimney's condition.
- Adhere to all safety protocols and industry standards (e.g., NFPA 211) while working at heights, in confined spaces, and with potentially hazardous materials.
2. Sales and Customer Service:
- Act as the primary point of contact for clients, building rapport and trust.
- Educate homeowners on the condition of their chimney systems, explaining technical information clearly and concisely.
- Identify opportunities to upsell and cross-sell services and products, such as major repairs, new fireplace inserts, or other hearth products.
- Create detailed estimates and quotes for projects, closing sales and meeting revenue targets.
- Provide professional, accurate, and timely information on project status, order availability, and scheduling.
- Handle customer inquiries, complaints, and follow-up services to ensure client satisfaction.
3. Project Management:
- Manage a project from the initial inspection and sale through to completion by install team.
- Organize and collect all necessary information for a job, including photos, paperwork, and technical details.
- Coordinate and schedule visits with clients and team members.
- Maintain and update project orders and information in a management system.
- Ensure projects are completed on time and within budget, managing client expectations throughout the process.
