We are seeking K’iche (also spelled Quiché) Over-the-Phone Interpreters (OPI) to support our USCIS contract. K’iche is a critical rare language of Guatemala, often requested for asylum and immigration cases.

Responsibilities

  • Provide real-time K’iche ↔ English telephonic interpretation for USCIS officers, applicants, and stakeholders.
  • Interpret with accuracy, impartiality, and professionalism in immigration, legal, and administrative settings.
  • Adhere to USCIS/DHS compliance standards and interpreter ethics.
  • Handle both scheduled assignments and urgent/surge calls.
  • Participate in training, compliance refreshers, and quality assurance reviews.
Qualifications

  • Native or near-native fluency in K’iche (Quiché) and English.
  • 2+ years of interpreting experience (immigration, legal, community, or government preferred).
  • Familiarity with interpreter ethics, confidentiality, and cultural sensitivity.
  • Strong telephone communication skills; ability to remain neutral and accurate.
  • Must be a U.S. Citizen or permanent resident eligible for Tier 3/Tier 5 federal clearance.
